Armani? Posted February 14 Posted February 14 https://variety.com/2024/music/news/her-signs-with-lighthouse-management-1235908799/amp/ Quote Just two days after performing with Usher during the Super Bowl Halftime show, Grammy-Oscar-Emmy winner H.E.R. has announced that she’s signed with Lighthouse Management and Media for management across all areas of her career. She will be managed at the company by Aleen Keshishian, Zack Morgenroth, Jacob Epstein and James Thompson. According to the announcement, “H.E.R. is set to embark on a new chapter in her career, underscoring her commitment to expanding her artistic reach and exploring new creative avenues.” A precocious singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, H.E.R. appeared on the cover of Variety in July of 2021 and won five Grammys, and Oscar and Emmy before the age of 26, and released the song “I Can’t Breathe,” inspired by the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, when she was just 23. That song won a Grammy, and her song “Fight for You,” from “Judas and the Black Messiah,” won an Oscar for best original song. She won her Emmy in 2022 for her work on the Netflix animated series “We the People” — leaving her just a Tony Award away from EGOT status. While prolific earlier in her career, she has released little new music under her own name since her debut 2021 full-length album “Back of My Mind,” although she has collaborated with multiple artists in that time, including Usher on “Risk It All” and Foo Fighters on “The Glass.” She parted ways with original manager Jeff Robinson in 2022. In December 2022, H.E.R. made her acting debut as Belle in ABC’s “Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration” and in December 2023, she appeared as “Squeak” in the musical film adaptation of “The Color Purple.” She joins Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Selena Gomez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Olivia Rodrigo, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, artist Petra Collins, model Miranda Kerr and others on the Lighthouse roster. https://www.nme.com/news/music/h-e-r-sues-record-label-seeks-release-from-her-contract-with-mbk-entertainment-3252157 Quote H.E.R. (aka Gabriella Wilson) has filed a lawsuit against her longtime record label, MBK Entertainment, pleading to be released from her contract with it. The label is owned by Wilson’s current manager, Jeff Robinson, with whom she signed in 2011 at age 14. According to court documents obtained by The Blast (via Variety), the singer claims that her long-held contract has exceeded the seven-year statute specified by California’s business and professions laws (it reached that point in May 2019), and therefore violates the state’s labor codes.
Keter Posted February 14 Posted February 14 She needed new management cuz she got all these songs, accolades, appearances and we still don’t know this lady! 1 6 3

You don't know her and she's going to have a Diamond eligible song at the end of year, as well as all 3 of her albums being at least Platinum Wierd flex but okay. ATRL pays attention to Tinashe, Chloe & Normani on here and they don't have half her success, it's just y'all taste. 5 1

She does have a lot of accolades (some deserved, some questionable). But, above all, there is a big awareness issue/disconnect. She has all these honors, but still feels quite anonymous to the GP. I'd also argue that the music needs to get better. She came out blazing with those first two EPs, but a lot of what followed has been meh. She has the odd issue of her accolades not feeling equally yoked with her brand awareness. Usually, that kind of unprecedented awarding is matched by mass awareness of the artist at the center of the hoopla and that's not been her edit. Her early career needs to be studied tbh, because (much as I love and believe in her) her success narrative is so damn odd. I can't shake the idea that she was industrially deemed as "next up" (basically what we're seeing with Billie Eilish atm). Somehow the GP never caught on, while the industry forces just pressed ahead with propelling her regardless. 7 2

I’m very happy for her! Her entire career is just nondescript to me, but I guess that comes with your stage name being “her.” Edited February 14 by Keter 1

Somehow the GP never caught on, while the industry forces just pressed ahead with propelling her regardless. It's mainly because she's been catering more to the Urban market musically as a R&B artist even though she's still pretty successful at it. She doesn't have a crossover hit besides the humongous "Best Part" & maybe "Could've Been" which was viral on Tik Tok & I guess "Slide" because of the remix? She also focuses a lot more on artistry & performances and not really quirky personality & relatabiilty which is why she's a GP driven artist & doesn't have a huge cult fanbase.

4th Time Around Posted February 14 Posted February 14 H.E.R is one of those objectively talented artists that sometimes does not live up to what she is capable of. I liked a lot of the ep stuff well enough but Back of My Mind was a bloated letdown and puts me to sleep whenever I try and give it a spin.
Armani? Posted February 14 Author Posted February 14 Also she sued MBK because they had her working past the deadline of a contract she signed at 14 years old & was using her brand & music for things without her knowledge or against her will Not because some ATRLers refuse to acknowledge her existence lol

Into The Void Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Good for her. I think my fave needs new management. His team totally is worthless

People on here r usually angry when others have success while their faves flop

ATRL’s insistence on saying no one knows who H.E.R. is in every H.E.R. thread in 2024 is very outdated now. H.E.R. is one of the most instantly recognizable female R&B singers of the 2020s at this point “Best Part” is a bigger classic than a lot of ATRL favorites have gotten in a long time. ”Every Kind of Way”, “Focus”, “Slide”, “Could’ve Been” & “Damage” are also pretty well known R&B songs 1

She can sing; she doesn’t have a big voice and her songs just don’t stick for me. But I like her style and she’s clearly channeling Aaliyah in a big way and doing it well.

It should be around 2.6M now.
