Jennifer could've signed a distribution deal without having to compromise on her other business ventures easily. She doesn't have a deal simply because she doesn't want to have to record albums to breakeven costs, hence why she said she believes this might be her last album. Music is simply not something she can make a profit of as of right now (i.e. her streaming numbers) Nobody needs a label or a studio to film a film but let's not pretend she didn't fund the project because her associate producers bailed on her last minute. It's brave that she decided to it regardless because some other people would've simply cancelled the whole thing. This is still an investment for her, if she wanted to release this for the love of art she would've released it on YouTube and called it a day. Amazon probably acquired the project because they saw potential in it and maybe because JLo gave them a hit movie a few years ago. she gave them the biggest movie of 2023 ... not few years ago ... and I totally think it wasnt an easy project to sell before they saw the final product. Anway, she took a risk and won already when amazon bought it ! Case closed. 2

She's not doing something avant-garde here It's far more likely that an investor would pull out because they don't have faith in the project after seeing the plans/early content. Have you seen the trailer? It looks like a sci-fi drama thriller musical adventure comedy film. Haha. I can see how they could be confused:

"Didn't understand" doesn't have to be literal. It can easily mean didn't understand the concept/vision/final product or didn't agree with it, etc. 1

Music is simply not something she can make a profit of as of right now (i.e. her streaming numbers) She just doesn't want a record deal, especially when the albums themselves are loss leaders and others will want a cut of her other earnings. It's as simple as that and has been for years. For this new album, she signed a marketing and distribution management deal with BMG though it is an independent release that she's self-financed wholly. The next project after this one is with Sony. mrmarrero Posted February 13 Posted February 13 are we suppose to feel sad when our idols pay their own stuff? 1

First bolded part in your quote: She does have a distribution deal with BMG. That’s what she got. Second bolded part: streaming music she doesn’t make ****, but continuing to put out music allows her to profit in other ways. Like going on tour, remaining somewhat relevant (people still check her out even if it’s once and not recurrent streams). It allows her to produce projects under her own production company and then sell them to Amazon and/or Apple+ like she has done this time around. Third and last bolded part: No one is pretending. She announced the album with a teaser on IG more than a year ago. Apple was tagged in it. An insider said Apple+ pulled out. She has said in interviews financiers pulled out last minute without mentioning them exactly. And that she then still decided to go through and fund it herself. Betting on herself that she would get the project acquired by a streamer once it was done, which she did, but to Amazon vs Apple+ originally. She was able to pull in an additional deal with Apple+ for a live concert and interview, though, so she still won in the end: Last bolded part: J.Lo gave both Netflix (The Mother) and Amazon Prime Video (Shotgun Wedding) their biggest streaming numbers of last year (2023, so not a few years ago) for new original content. That’s why they probably invested. It makes sense. 3 1

How's that confusing? One typically lasts minutes while the other goes for hours
