BrandNewBrandon Posted February 14 Posted February 14 When I say Spotify Global charts don't give the exact picture I mean this: #19 in Australia, #61 in Brazil, #78 in France and #121 in Germany is screaming flop or underperformance outside much of the US. I love Beyoncé and hope this is a hit for her and it's certainly doing very well in the US but going #4 on the Global chart I'd expect her to at least be Top 10 in most territories and not outside of the Top 20. 3

I mean, yes country is going to be a hard sell outside of the US/Ireland - but songs doing well on the global chart and not as high on various regional ones is pretty common. We’re not seeing WW #1 songs as often in the age of Spotify - France, Germany etc are dominated by regional tracks that often do nothing outside of the region. For example none of the Global Spotify top 10 are in the French top 10 chart. 6
cuteboyzay Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Her Debuting at #4 with a Country Song as a BLACK WOMAN 26 years into her career is IMPRESSIVE AS H*LL! Especially considering the genre is racist as h*ll. Not many Americans truly enjoy country and the with no music video either mind you. Some of y’all truly are being just spiteful and measuring the metrics by the complete wrong standard. Excited af to see what this song does and the controversy that’s about ensue with this era . Ooooo it’s gonna be so GOOD. Hive we need to let our inner Barb out and Stan like we never have before! 1
Scars Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Brazilians are not rushing to listen to a country song during Carnival. The dramatics in here. Good numbers! 1

As for country being a hard sell, it's a popular genre in Australia and it's only #19 there.

At least in Latin America, if an international artist has a song in the top 200 its a SMASH HIT, bc the entire top 200 is dominated by regional acts and that song is probably one of the other 5 international songs in the chart. The same with France, Germany and more countries whose language is not English. Edited February 14 by unclefloprry 1

BMS would’ve been the more likely candidate

Particularly for a black woman in her 40s. You don't need to like this woman, but the delusion could've been kept to yourself. 4
Bloodflowers. Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Happy to see Beyonce smashing with a new sound for her Collab with Zach Bryan next

Obviously some examples, but she rose in a lot of countries on its second-day. Also, country is inevitably going to do better relatively in the US, whilst the rest of the world gets used to the sound. 2

Take a look at the charts 20 years ago and you’ll notice the difference; music consumption/tracking has changed a lot in the streaming era. Songs aren’t going top 10 in as many countries compared to the physical/digital eras. That’s before we get into slow chart runs, more diverse music options, taste-makers etc having less influence etc. As for Australia, that was on a partial days streams, hence why the song is up to #10 today.
