Green Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I need Beyonce to snatch that UK #1 this week because that Benson guy is coming too and you never know if he will pass her next week 2

MatiRod Posted February 19 Posted February 19 This instant pivot from disco to country is one of the most effective surprise reinventions I’ve seen, up there with ROL (Adult Conyemporarydonna to spiritual earth goddess), Folklore (Children’s TV show host to poetess in the woods) and Bangerz (Disney girl to twerking stunt queen) 3 1

JoeAg Posted February 19 Posted February 19 you know what song this actually reminds me of? I Hate Love by Kelly Clarkson both bangers tbh, sounds good played back to back
Lightbringer007 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 make sure yall are shazaming the song! that helps with it getting attention on radio

BletaRexher Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Honestly really have a lot more respect for her now. Funny how Pitchfork switched on her in a bad way and I switched on her in a good way. She really has a beautiful voice for country music. 2

I honestly thought Ariana’s lead was getting that baton. 17 hours ago, SIDE2SIDE said: its funny how I was reading the thread when the song first got released and everyone HATED it but as soon as them numbers came in they switched lol I entered 16C thread first and even though the reception to it was milquetoast, every user that mentioned THE in the first pages were straight-up trashing the song. It’s way too inoffensive to elicit such extreme reactions. I feel like the first 24hr of a song’s release is atrl’s purge window. The disappointing part is that we are a music forum, we should’ve our fingers on the pulse of the current soundscape but every time we prove “atrl hates it, it’s gonna be a hit,” true because we can’t rise above our fanbases and biases to assess new tracks on merit. 13 hours ago, Lovett said: My country is always in formation. Bey'Knight Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I still prefer 16C by a long shot but that’s good. I’m not at risk of overplaying this anytime soon. I have an inkling it’ll click poignantly within the context of the album like BMS whilst never rising to my top 3. This one’s for the GP. 1

I6C might get a chance during album release, but it is truly giving XO vibes. As far as being overshadowed by the other one.
AmenPaparazzi Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Is anyone surprised by the success of this? Might be just because I’m not a fan of country in general, but 16C stands out way more IMO

THE has that base covered so I’m fine with 16C remaining an album gem with the fans esp as her team having been unequivocal in positioning THE as the single. I know some fans of 16C are disappointed its victim to a dual release but that’s if you only consider charting perspectives. As a veteran making a bold genre pivot, i think it was essential and smart to release them in tandem. Can you imagine the pandemonium within the base and thinkpieces from haters if people thought the whole album was gonna sound as … straightforward (to put euphemistically), as THE? Of course Bey’s track record defies that logic but the Tiktok generation doesn’t run on patience. I’ll admit I was a bit concerned about Ren based on BMS, but I’ve never not loved a Beyoncé album so it was faith tempered by skepticism. Edited February 19 by Bey'Knight 2

Of course Bey’s track record defies that logic but the Tiktok generation doesn’t run on patience. I’ll admit I was a bit concerned about Ren based on BMS, but I’ve never not loved a Beyoncé album so it was faith tempered by skepticism. This was perfectly said. They both complemented each other, and 16 helped elevate THE to new heights by giving it validity. I also agree with Renaissance - I could not tell where she was going with BMS, and maybe she thought about that for this release. This is the MOST excited I have ever been for a Beyonce album, and 16 played a massive role in that. 1 1
