nooniebao Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Really thought this was going to be a tougher sell even in the US. It’s still early days but I think we underestimated how much good RENAISSANCE and CUFF IT especially did for her on streaming and TikTok. @Cbreezy @trainsskyscrapers 3

If you look at the last 10-13 years, the subject matter has not been very "happy" regarding Bey - its been about a possible divorce, overcoming that, its been about legacy, about BLM, about reclaiming power, about racism, about surpression, about lack of respect, about manifestation, about sexuality - all very heavy topics While Texas Hold Em still in its essence is a political statement in itself (black female superstar doing Country, hello?), its core is light, fun, accessible. It doesnt take itself too seriously, its playful, its engaging and catchy. Its the Beyoncé we got to know in songs like Bootylicious, in Nasty Girl, in BugaBoo, in Check On It, in Irreplaceable, in Single Ladies, in Telephone, in Countdown. And the world has missed seeing that side of hers, heck even I as a fan have missed that part of hers Edited February 14 by Kristie Kuwa 8 1

The only reason Renaissance didn't perform even better was because 1) No Visuals 2) No Live Performance 3) No Interviews Renaissance was a huge success without any of these things and if she wanted to focus on marketing then we wouldn't even be having this discussion today.

SharGaga Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Both songs sound like a much needed breath of fresh air in Beyonce's discography. Congrats to the Hive. If the songs bleed into each other like Ren, ACT 2 is gonna eat forreal! 8
Nippy'sReceipts Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I like the Def leppard pour some sugar on me reference. It makes me wonder if it’s true Act 3 is rock

ShouldersSideways Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Not to curse us, but I could see Kanye falling off. He hasn't really been doing well after the first week in years, right? Even if he hits #2.
ToraeGilt Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I think we can clear Kanye if our streams stay consistent. We have digital sales on our side. If we had BMS radio deal we wouldn’t need to worry about jack

The stellar music, her tour fits (and most importantly, permitting her catalog to appear on TikTok) secured her with the TikTok generation. As others above have said, holding back the visuals has also pushed people to go back to the music like never before.
Fleahive Posted February 14 Posted February 14 (edited) Y’all I converted to liking this song after hearing it on TikTok a few times. I’m sick of this ***** not letting me dislike anything she releases besides that DELESTRO mess. Edited February 14 by Fleahive 2

She can literally blow up on tiktok but because of greedy UMG, the song isnt even on tiktok!
Lost In Paradise Posted February 14 Posted February 14 think a lot of people are overanalyzing why this is successful it's successful because no matter the genre, it's a GOOD, CATCHY song 1
Eóghan Posted February 14 Posted February 14 watch this become bigger than any Act 1 single in the US and people said a country album from her would just be for the critics and not for the charts this is beyonce, she ain't lana del rey 2

Then Ari and Mariah will be #1 the following week so B will have to wait til the album drops. Edited February 14 by B3000
