Green Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I remember Cuff It sold 78k thanks to the remixes so maybe sales can increase more if she releases another version

If she did pure R&B music that targeted to her main demo she would EASILY score a +3M US album seller idt the r&b market is that powerful tbh, maybe in the 2000s. But with the advent of streaming, she'd probably go toe to toe with Drake and Taylor on AM US if she did that, pure sales I highly doubt it. that being said, anything bey releases the general pop public will always check out, the question is is it palatable enough and we've seen it happen time and time again. she releases something divisive that's not catchy too = flop, she releases something divisive but catchy = moderate hit, something inoffensive + catchy = SMASH HIT (savage, cuff it, bms, and now texas hm) the public will ALWAYS be here for beyonce, they've always been here for her, her decision to stray away from the top 40 sound is the only thing holding her back. 4

I understand that you are aware that almost any A-list artist with the super bowl promo would have reached those kind of numbers, but I don't know what kind of numbers drake or Taylo would have achieved with that promotion 1

Interesting insights and I agree with a lot of it. As a fan, her shenanigans/self-sabotage can be frustrating, but it has kinda worked to her favor. Because if she kept going guns blazing with commercial material and hinged her success solely on that, I a) don't think she'd be as critically celebrated as she is now and b) she'd burn her commercial relevancy out way quicker. Giving us (the audience) pauses between her commercial moments gives her much better overall longevity. She's playing the long game. 1
