It amazes me that she struggled to cracked the Hot100 Top 10 during her visual eras but is now have global hits without music videos.

She def did NOT struggle. She sabotaged the songs every chance she got. Drunk In Love could’ve been #1, Formation could’ve been #1, maybe even Hold Up or Sorry too. Alien Superstar, Cuff It could’ve def been #1s. But the stubborn girl just HADDDD to prove a d*mn point. It’s honestly so weird :hoetenks:.

To be fair, she hindered herself a little back then (no streaming platforms, privated music videos, very little pop music, slowing down with promo etc) and also had some things working against her (pop radio ignoring her since 4 era, middle america mad at her political stance etc).

She did the best with what she got. RTW may have peaked at #29 but if you look at the views, streams and certifications, it ended up bigger than a lot of "top 10" songs from that time. 4 as a whole did. That's why I try not to get caught up in peaks as amazing as this has all been.

4 def aged well (not just in sound but success in longevity) compared to a lot of the 2011 mainstream albums. Love on Top remains super popular worldwide and is also an international GP karaoke staple.

Run the World is still globally used as a march/protest/parade song (as seen in France just this week!.) I remember the lesbian float was playing this song non-stop during the 2022 LGBTQ Parade in Korea

Also her being VERY political and controversial. Ngl looking back at it now, idk how an artist at her caliber with so much success was THAT courageous to do something like that while investing sooo much money and energy into a project. It’s kinda wild but very Beyonce of her so I get it now lmao.

How nice that TH'E lasted almost the full tracking week on TikTok. Based on the drops in artist positions today, it is looking like the effects are starting to show. Regardless, I'm sure Bey is overwhelmed by the response so far. That sort of genre pivot would surely be anxiety inducing, even for our beloved self sabotaging fave.

Today will be rough update wise. She dropped pretty much everywhere on the artists charts

It was bound to happen when you think you can do the bare NOTHING to promote your own stuff now that’s it’s been pulled off TikTok. Still hope the update won’t be THAT rough tho lol

Less than Sunday lol US is such a flop

There’s only so much the GP can do without promo, videos and discounts.

Lack of Tiktok exposure is really showing now

It seems this song has already peaked in the US. The focus should be on other places now

I think this is being impacted by the Austin song by Dasha. Its country line dance is taking over TikTok which appeals to the same demographic as Texas Hold ‘Em. I haven’t seen a TEM dance in a minute (no idea about the official version being removed from TT).

Probably a combination of both. I’ve seen this Austin song at least 5 times today. I think it’s just bad timing and another female country song/dance is taking some shine away.

Seeing how strong Carnival performs, i am inclined to say that Bey suffers a bit from it. She needed the GenZ exposure

The way I am so satisfied. Albeit cautiously.

The Pros:

* Two weeks at #1 for a song many of us felt would be lucky to scrape top 10.

* The era has been set up so well thanks to TH'E, not just commercially, but critically and the overall "narrative" of "Beyonce goes Country"

* The album release will for sure give this another wind. Even if just for launch week.

* It's "already" beaten the quick lil hit allegations. While we're in "smash hit" territory, we're deffo in "solid hit" territory.

* This is doing miracle-like magic for her international stats. She's reclaiming her things in a major way.

The Cons:

* Yes, the US does seem to be slowing with this. Possibly being snatched from TikTok, possibly the lack of active promo. Both things are somewhat out of our hands.

* At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the lack of album title, cover, preorder is WILD at this stage. All of that is easy, immediate, and automated promo for the song and yet...nothing.

Looking Ahead:

* Even if streaming slows, Columbia can and probably will pivot to pushing this more on radio to keep it afloat. Either way, I think we're looking at a constant presence in the top 10 through to album release, which is cute af.

* All of the above helps the climate for whatever the next focus track on the album is. Much how BMS "allowed" for the reception to Cuff It. I'd much rather score multiple moments from this project than get overly invested in putting all my eggs in the TH'E basket.
