Sannie Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Very brave and ballsy coming out with this after Renaissance. Maybe I spoke too soon about her winning AOTY because I can see the bitter voters being "offended" by her doing country. Will be fun watching fans and gays force themselves to like country. 1
liquiddiamonds Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) Those two are not particularly my fave type of country music, but they’re good and they point to diversity, by mixing with other genres. I hope we get more americana/bluegrass fingerpicking, some countrypolitan songs with soft rock like Linda Ronstadt used to do and even some atmospheric ones like Emmylou Harris. I think to expect alternative country would be too much, but she did incorporate more underground dance genres for Renaissance Act I. I think Bey will deliver… And I also think she will face mad music racism for being a tourist in this genre. I can even see the Grammy Country Comittee having to type new excuses to exclude her this time around 👀 Edited February 12 by liquiddiamonds 2

Almodusa Posted February 12 Posted February 12 On first listen I liked Texas Hold ‘Em more; I’m def gonna need lyrics
Achilles. Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I like the songs but they’re weird genre wise. Not really country, not really folk, not really pop. IDK what I’d call them. I wouldn’t hold my breath on the AOTY either. If Musgraves or Stapleton get into the lineup, country-folk voters will have no reason to favor Beyoncé over one of their own. I can kinda already smell the 0/12 Grammy night followed by a thousand headlines about racist country music snubbing her.
Rigalo Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Her whole concept of taking back genres created by black people is just… if all three acts are 16 track masterpieces omg…. Her mind, she’s not my fave but she is undeniably the most important artist of her time. I CANNOT ******* WAITTTTT 12 2 1
Big Bad Wolf Posted February 12 Posted February 12 It's really about to be a year of artists doing country huh.....at least Beyonce did it first. These songs are great and this likely means Act III is Rock or Jazz.
