American Requeim and Spaghetti just won't click. Her only "rapping" I like is the one she does in Alien Superstar. And sorry for having an opinion. Beyonce is my favorite singer-she's very versatile. But that doesn't mean I like all of her styles. Again, thats totally fair and ok. Music is sth personal and its ur prerogative to like whatever u like. However that "lack of soul and concept" argumentation is just bs when CC is so deeply rooted in American history and in the spirit of Texas 2
seancarter Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 II Most Wanted has now surpassed Jolene on Apple Music.. so it's now ahead on both Spotify and Apple. 1

Nothing is showing signs of stability/hit potential like AS did for the first couple of weeks. We joke about how a song can pull a CUFF IT, but CUFF IT was really luck with those 2 girls making a perfect dance. 1

family.guy123 Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Don't know how to phrase it exactly, but I'm not sure how I feel about her further releasing what I feel are basically just snippets of songs. Sweet honey buckin, while I definitely enjoy the "song", it just kind of feels like 3 unfinished ideas combined together. I wouldn't call her lazy and I know she doesn't want to be confined to traditional song structures, but I do appreciate build up in songs and anything less than 2 and a half minutes just isn't enough for me to really get into something. Saying all that, I feel it works on tyrant though. The hangman portion at least comes back at the end

Mariah4life Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 (edited) Everything in this album was intentionally placed. Beyonce would never put something out if it's unfinished. Why should she when it's 27 tracks? The first part of the album calls out people who said she's not welcome in country music. She gave them old school country while displaying the struggle (Blackbird/16 carriages). Smoke hour part 1 displays strong modern women while slowing shifting away from country theme. Smoke hour II shows her softer, mellow side of strong modern women. Here, we can see her versatility from the beginning. Linda Martell section shows the more non traditional style of music and again her wide range of versatility. She ended it with Honey Buckin, a song that basically shows people she will do whatever the f she wants in a song Then she ended it full circle. Let love in. cuteboyzay Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 (edited) The difference between this album and Rennie is that people are actually studying this album. I mean they were doing the same for Rennie but with CC it's happening WAYYY MORE! It's actually insane. So we can't expect a Texas Hold 'Em dance trend for everyyyy song lol. With these slower songs she needs to do with she did with THE initially and have a proper single rollout. So II MOST WANTED and JOLENE will need a traditional roll out, maybe even a video, and some playlisting. She needs to just focus on longevity with this album which I feel she is and that's her focus rn. Hence why she kept doing droplet promo-ing before the release. Edited April 2, 2024 by cuteboyzay
period sis Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I think Columbia/Parkwood are super stuck on what to make the next single. They're giving II MW the push because it features another Columbia artist who just had a huge radio peak last year - but Leviis sounds more catered to whats better on the radios and Bodyguard seems to be the most liked track so far judging by TikTok

I think Levii Jeans is the best bet for now cause it would perform the best on all platforms and Bodyguard would hold on regardless.

mellenthin Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I keep thinking about this album randomly during my days (outside of having it on repeat) and I just want to cry each time. There's so much emotion and intent in these songs. American Requiem -> Blackbird -> 16 Carriages -> Protector alone 1

The willing, the missing, the wanting Dry eyes just send me across the divide Hangman, teach me how not to cry How not to cry, how not to cry This bridge is so ST/Lem-coded Not only with the lyrics but also the production, it switches to a beat very similar to Ghost/Haunted's and she even sings in a similar style to Ghost and sounds similarly distant and ethereal. I didn't catch that for the first 10 or so times I listened to the album and it was only because I happened to be looking at the lyrics when it got to this part and saw 'the haunting'. Kh-Loud Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 (edited) Enough time has passed since I was banned for 3 whole days for simply saying "some lady's screaming is very detrimental to our hearing" that I can comfortably say that RENNIE is still my top 2, but not #2 for me. I've always love HyperHoodCuntyYonce over SangerYonce. Having said that, CC is now ranked at #2 on my all time fave pushing Bday to #3. I was so bitter, for 3 whole days I couldn't talk about my new fave music Edited April 2, 2024 by Kh-Loud
