16 Carriages was already excellent but it's even better with the whole album. A top 3 song on CC methinks :jonny5:

can someone explain the significance of "BEYINCE?" like why did she replace the O with an I?

Her mother, Celestine Beyince (Tina Knowles) named Beyonce after her family name, bc there weren't a lot of males to carry on the name. So Beyonce is a surname.

Amen snuck in, I get the ancestral honor of it now, it's a gorgeous respect and testament to the entire history of our country.

This woman, like wow!

When it hit me as well I was crying like a baby for an hour and repeating the song… it's been a while a song touched me so deeply.

It hits harder when you've also experienced the pain when she says I'm just... trying to get through this.

Also lines about being high on II Most II Wanted

Someone pointed out how on REN there were multiple references to drug abuse. At this point it doesn't seem by accident. I wonder if that was The Dream was referencing when he said "I cant wait for her to tell y'all the story of she got here"

I wonder if she got involved in that same cult that Miley is rumored to be part of  :/

2 Hands 2 Heaven is not about enough. The best R&B song since Dangerously In Love 2 in her discography

I finally had time to listen to this masterpiece by itself without any distraction and it was an EXPERIENCE.

Like how a book or a motion picture can take you to another place.... that is what this album does. This is cinema in album form. Music history preserved.

Now it's on repeat in my daily life and so far my Top 3 are:

PROTECTOR, II MOST WANTED, and RIIVERDANCE. All songs here are masterpieces though in their own right.

I feel lucky to be part of yet another groundbreaking era and witness the further re-birth/re-peak (?) of B.

I'm not sure it's my favorite on the album - because honestly, I couldn't begin to choose a favorite yet - but Tyrant is brilliant. The layers, the lyrics.

One by one, you hang them high
Your hands are steady and you sleep at night
How did you turn your heart to stone?
I don't want him back, but I can't let go
Hangman, answer me now
You owe me a debt, you stole him from me
I hated you once, I envy you now
Just tell me how, tell me how

:jonny2:

Like I don't know if I can name a better-written verse that I've heard in ages, and a with Beyoncé's voice and the harmonies, it becomes such a powerful moment. There's so much depth to even just this piece of the track - I've seen super interesting theories about how it connects back to Jolene, and addresses the other woman of that song in a hypothetical where she did "take" the narrator's man and how she's the metaphorical hangman.

Like I know there's similar, or more, depth and complexity to many of the other tracks, but this part of Tyrant has been winding its way through my brain literally all day.
