Brikenbur Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I choose this title over THE TORTURED COWBOY CARTER DEPT ANY DAY so let’s be grateful 1
ElectricBlue Posted March 12 Posted March 12 i panicked and got all 4 vinyls i- this woman is getting all my money 2
The Next Day Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) I wonder if Es Devlin knew about the title since she talked about Bey researching about Black cowboys and redlining back in November. I like the title as a means to reclaim country and cowboy imagery as a part of Black culture. Edited March 12 by The Next Day 2
Sir Galahad Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I think it's a fun name. Memorable and rolls off the tongue. We don't need a set of pretentious names - just let her have fun. Go along with the ride.
J-esper Posted March 12 Posted March 12 If the vinyl are still available in two weeks I will pre-order the other 3 this woman gets everything
Illuminati Posted March 12 Posted March 12 7 minutes ago, swissman said: What does the title Cowboy Carter tell us? One, that she's having fun. She's playing in the genre, and will likely have political messages but just like act i, it'll be a record about the joy of music. Rather than naming it a more obvious and formal and perhaps pretentious, "Rodeo", she's chosen something that is name based, and situates herself as a character in it. Thus two, it tells us that she's playing a bit with alter-ego. Like Sasha Fierce was for IASF, Yoncé was for ST, etc. It's about imagining herself as a different kind of artist and living that artistry. THIRD, it sounds cinematic, doesn't it? Like it could be a movie title and sounds more like one than an album that's ever been named. First came the renaissance, then comes Cowboy Carter... I love it. I feel like this is copypasta-worthy and reads like a twitter swiftie post Rodeo would have absolutely been a more consistent title while still being fun and detached from the first act That being said I'm glad you enjoy it and I'm sure the album will be good 3
boxoffice Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I'm sooo excited for this Also, I really like the title. Can't wait to see the actual cover

I don't and will never get her obsession with using Carter in her projects when Knowles is also right there, especially after the cheating scandal, but more power to her. I'm gonna stream, buy and hopefully see her again on tour anyway, I just don't like the direction she's gone with on this project's title. 7
