Fleahive Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) I kinda figured the try hard "feminists" would be faux outraged about Jolene lyrics. I love that Beyoncé hasn't given into that dumb narrative that a woman can't drag another woman and be pro woman. It was especially cringe when Haley Williams stopped performing Paramores best song because of that lyric calling the girl a *****. Like bffr there are hoes out there that try to break up relationships out of boredom see Ariana Grande. They shouldnt be immune to a drag! Edited March 29 by Fleahive 1 1

A rap album with a good diss is going to dominate. honey APPLE music is rap fans streaming platform and future and metro are currently at the pinnacle. I knew they would do some blocking when it came out last week.

Am I deaf or were they just background vocals serving Destinys Child? I think they sing each line of the last verse. Tanner definitely doesn't sing the last three lines. 1
Bears01 Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Jolene is awesome, I can't believe anyone doesn't like it. It's the first song that instantly had me like "whoa" 6
darkfantasy Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Is this not performing well ? Why are people saying it might not outdo renaissance w double the songs ??
BnPac Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Anyway my favorite moments in the album after a whole listening day are : - YA YA, self-explanatory, it's explosive, Tina Turner and Prince on acid. A beautiful ode to 60's rock. - Daughter, it's hypnotic, it feels like a movie in a song and not just because I can clearly visualize Jolene's dead body on the floor and Beyoncé's white dress (I just imagine it white for some reason) completely covered with blood. It's a masterpiece, the opera vocals add so much to the haunting atmosphere and the death scene I've created in my mind. - Tyrant, it's so well constructed, I need to break it down better, I don't understand yet the connection with the beginning of the song and the main (middle part) song. - Protector, soulful lullaby. - Sweat Honey Bucking, a full bop - Jolene, like I've said yesterday what she did with the end of the song is nothing short of masterful. - Levi's Jean, when I listened to Hollywood Bleeding, I could clearly visualize a duet between him and Beyoncé and I wasn't disappointed. - Bodyguard, the song feels like a winter breeze, just sunshine in a song. There are other moments that I love but those are the highlights for me for now. 1
TrymeB Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I enjoyed Renaissance from start to finish but Cowboy Carter isn't my cup of tea.

WildAmerican Posted March 29 Posted March 29 whew that was a ride, a lot to take in on first listen. I think I liked Ya Ya, Bodyguard and her cover of Jolene the best, but will be curious how other tracks do after more time
actirenaissance Posted March 29 Posted March 29 need someone to hurry up and rip the CD version of the album, i wanna see if there's different lyrics for some of the songs

It's giving Spicy and Tommy Lee era It definitely doesnt feel like his recent vocal takes, and considering this album has been in the works for 5-6 years it might aswell have been recorded 3-4 years ago Hopefully he sounds this good on his next album 1
