I'm intrigued now.

"I enjoy being open to have the freedom to get all aspects of things I love out and so I worked on many songs. I recorded probably 100 songs. Once that is done, I am able to put the puzzle together and realize the consistencies and the common themes, and then create a solid body of work.” The album is an experiment indeed. Each song is its own version of a reimagined Western film. She took inspiration from films like "Five Fingers For Marseilles,” "Urban Cowboy,” "The Hateful Eight, "Space Cowboys,” "The Harder They Fall" and "Killers of the Flower Moon,” often having the films playing on a screen during the recording process. Some aspects of the percussion were inspired by the 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ soundtrack, where it was more Bluegrass. "This album took over five years,” she says. "It's been really great to have the time and the grace to be able to take my time with it. I was initially going to put COWBOY CARTER out first, but with the pandemic, there was too much heaviness in the world. We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance. But I had to trust God's timing.” https://www.justjared.com/2024/03/29/beyonce-talks-cowboy-carter-album-in-press-release-new-details-inspiration-revealed/ It all makes sense. I was overcome with imagery and sounds from some of the films mentioned while listening. She has so much intent in everything she does. Her vast knowledge and appreciation of all things art should be admired, and mirrored, by all who want to call themselves an "artist". Her creativity and talent is out of this world. 1

She took the concept of Jolene which was an incredible coming unto her man and instead of begging her not take him away, she decided to stay her ground.

It is indeed like "listening" a movie, if that makes sense. @Lose My Breath perfectly described it at the beginning, I don't remember the post now.

But threatening a woman over your own disloyal man is… very 2000s let's just say that But being obsessed with her husband has been her brand for 20 years now so it makes sense for her That doesn't mean I'm not currently blasting it and singing along tho idk, Jolene is a classic but lbr, it's just no right way to sing a song about 2 women fighting over a cheating man one thing I do like in the Beyoncé version is the lack of begging and self-pity. Dolly is legend but she sounds just so sad and lacking confidence in Jolene, begging that woman not to take her man. She can't compete with her because Jolene is just oh so better than her and she'll never find another man like her cheating husband. Like girl, STAND UP lol. I'm sorry, if you gon' go through all the trouble of pulling the the other woman to the side then square up or shut up.
Nippy'sReceipts Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I kinda wish Beyonce did Desperado for this album 😂 . It fits 1
BnPac Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) It's kind of tugging one Lemonade's wig in my all time ranking but I don't want to. It's just newness of it, it'll probably not hold up. Lem hang in there, I held onto you for so long. Edited March 29 by BnPac
