Blue Rose Posted March 26 Posted March 26 But the fact remains that most people think that IWALY is a Whitney original. It was a hit in the Country community but the people that made Whitney's version so big and global, had never heard of it. 2
Space&Time Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Listen, OG Beyhive speaking and I am here for the Miley Cyrus collab. I can't say I'm a huge fan, but that girl is talented! Everytime I see her perform I am always impressed. Vocally, and in any other way that matters the two of them will slay together. Also, I don't know why anyone would doubt mother. Her vision is always on point! I do hope tho, the Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton features are separate. Also, I don't care for a Jolene remake. But I will go with whatever Bey has up her sleeve! 4

verzden Posted March 26 Posted March 26 There is also the White Stripes cover of Joelene which was fairly popular, and Bey seems to like Jack White. 1

Obviously Whitney's rendition is great and iconic and huge, but to act like it was some random song plucked out of obscurity is just ridiculous. It was a timeless hit and a signature song not just in Dolly's career but in the entire genre of country music well before Whitney ever touched it. But that's just the power of Dolly's songwriting: so effective and universal that her country classic went on to become a pop and R&B classic, too. The way Elvis wanted to cover it in the 70s but Dolly refused because Colonel Parker wanted her to sign over half the publishing rights. But then she got the last laugh because, as she put it, Whitney's version made her so much money she could have bought Graceland. /off topic No one say it was an obscure song though, it was simply not big worldwide. Whitney transformed it into probably the most famous song by a female ever, a song every single person on Earth probably knows. It was a country hit before, Whitney's song was something else entirely. And that's no shade on Dolly. Edited March 26 by BnPac 5

humbz Posted March 26 Posted March 26 where's the tracklist? im depending on a cunty track title to get me really hyped for the album. for now im just apprehensive for what can potentially be the least enjoyable B album for me.
Popular Post Scars Posted March 26 Popular Post Posted March 26 Someone'd think that Miley is a random rent-a-pop-girl whose highest accolade is a fan-voted People's Choice Award based on some of the comments here, a few of you tired queens even tried to claim that she's an one hit wonder (be serious! ). If you're not into her as an artist for whatever reason, you do you, but yes, people are obviously going to clock comments trying to undermine her two-decade career. No hyper-defensiveness on that. Tf. Not only Miley is extremely talented, is a household name known for her versatility and has familiarity with country music, but she has literally collaborated with icons from every genre you can think of. I mean, she was chosen to induct Joan Jett into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for a reason. She's not new to this and I'm sure Beyoncé has a clear idea of what she's looking for. Can't wait for this southern girl slay joint. If this collab thing turns out to not be true, you @Mr.S will pay! 16 1
QueenBLadyG Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Not that AI Miley cover of 16 Carriages getting her a spot on the album Bey heard it and was like, "Wait, y'all hear that emotion and cadence?"
