She opened so many doors for female artists to express their sexuality openly and without shame, that is a huge deal. Not only that but she used her platform to shed light on racism, homophobia, AIDS crisis, and so much more. Madonna also showed extreme resilience and constantly challenged her musically, professionally and personally. "Immature take" meanwhile y'all be wanting controversy for the sake of controversy. 1 1

White women are the reason she is where she is today. This is demonstrably not true. Statista just posted statistics about her audience and showed that it is NOT composed primarily of white women.

But I do enjoy some of The Beatles music, and I see why they are still important today. I don't think people will think the same in 50 years when they listen to Me!, Karma, Gorgeous, etc. 2
Goaty Posted February 9 Posted February 9 One in FOUR US adults is a fan of hers. The divide is split almost 50/50 for men and women. And the ethnic breakdown is much more diverse than you’re implying in the OP. 2

I see maybe one or two in the crowds. The majority of the people who worship her and think of her as a "great" in the vein of Michael, Madonna, Whitney, etc are white women and white gays. I would like to see the same studies pre-Eras PR Tour. It's also eyebrow raising that these studies are being conducted in the first place. I call bullshit. 2 1

I’m talking about a published article of statistics and you’re bringing up pictures from her tour? It’s fallacious to imply the tour demographics extend to her overall consumption demographics for reasons that shouldn’t need an explanation. 4 1

Shelter Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Anyone successful will be called overrated. Her hype is overrated because she isn’t doing anything amazing, and people try to push it like she is some kind of god to music. 4
Antisocialites Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I don't really believe in the concept of art being overrated because simply that's not the art's or artist's fault and not a valid criticism since it all relies on what other people think about it rather than the art itself. I will say though that nothing that she does is appealing to me and if it would be for me, you know, in MY opinion, she wouldn't be as popular or acclaimed. 4

Dialamba Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Overall no but the hype she has right now yes , she has always been massive but since the era tour she’s everywhere and she doesn’t do anything different that she used to do so I don’t get the sudden repeak in her career 2 1

No, I'm expressing an opinion you deem controversial because it goes against Taylormania. Move! Check the polls, clearly it isn't that controversial, sis. Edited February 9 by Big Bad Wolf
Finkypop Posted February 9 Posted February 9 No. She literally owns the universe (and everybody's minds for that matter)

Goaty Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Anyway. For those in this thread who aren’t statistically illiterate and would like to learn more about her fan demographics (and other interesting statistics about her fame) - the Statista publication is great and 100% worth a read.

suneclipse121 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 The overrated title fits Taylor better than it ever did Beyoncé tbh. Take everything away and Beyoncé still has her consistent singing/vocal and performing abilities at base level but for Taylor she has her songwriting which can be extremely inconsistent depending on who she collabs with. 6
Gorjesspazze9 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 How many Taylor Threads are made a day. No she ain’t overrated, she is just over exposed af but she deserves it. Few artist have a discography that can be molded into an Era’s Era Give her her 10’s
