FolkLover1989 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 After pandemic ratings down of every award show Shook
BrandNewBrandon Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Certain Taylor stans claimed she attracts 10+ million viewers for the NFL. Where were they during the Grammys? 1 4 1
Mandalore Posted February 6 Posted February 6 2024 was the best of the 4. Still, these award shows are a dying relic of the past, and frankly not that interesting to watch all the way through.
Kimi Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I watched the whole thing and I swear it was borderline unwatchable. The amount of ads 2
dawnettakins Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) But I thought Taylor brought in 10+ million viewers? Now they're the lowest? What happened? Yes Taylor, no ratings? Edited February 6 by dawnettakins 1 1
Imagine Dragon Posted February 6 Posted February 6 This year saw a huge increase over the past few years though. 2020 - 18.7 million viewers 2021 - 9.4 million viewers 2022 - 9.6 million viewers 2023 - 12.4 million viewers 2024 - 17.1 million viewers 2
Mania Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I think this year’s grammys were the best in recent years but most people are over watching this rigged award show.
Taylena Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Everything is dropping in ratings, except this year's Grammys and the NFL (all thanks to Taylor). 1 2

I think Taylornators (I'm so out out of it I'm forgetting what we call ourselves ) just don't quite care as much about the grammys cause we know she'll always sweeep. and idk i think it's old news world

BellKat Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Interestingly enough, one would think that people being in lockdown would have increased the appeal of these tv shows but it had the opposite effect. If anything, it seems to be re-stabilising after the drop of interest... but I don't think we are seeing it reaching previous rating peaks 3
MotherSuperior Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I didn't even know it happened until about 30 minutes ago.
Finkypop Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) Y'all are still surprised that people don't watch TV as much as they did ages ago? Ratings for everything are lower than they were before Edited February 6 by Finkypop 5
Moonlight Nation Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) That's what they deserve for not even nominating "Blinding Lights" and "After Hours" in 2021 entirely due to shady industry politics, voting corruption, and potential personal vendetta. And worse, using the excuse that there was too much excellent music that year when "Yummy" and the "Changes" album got nominated in the pop categories instead, not to mention that bizarre AOTY line-up. Abel did the right thing by not submitting anymore, and while Frank Ocean was the first to boycott like this back in 2016, we did see a precedent being set after 2021 with Drake (kinda) and even Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak. (granted, likely a one-time thing because they didn't want to sweep again or Bruno didn't want to lose his winning streak, but still...). And of course, outdated format, the refusal to adapt to the streaming age, plus the consistently out-of-touch nominations ("abcdefu" in SOTY anyone?) and wins based on what's safest and most palatable rather than what really impacted the year and set trends and/or pushed boundaries. I'm not surprised at all, but the fact it started in 2021 makes it easy to joke about AbelVoodoo Edited February 6 by Moonlight Nation 1 1
Nightingale Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Isn’t it like the second most watched award show behind the Oscars? It’s doing fine given the drop in ratings everywhere. Everyone still thinks alls about the Grammys and it’s all over the news

VelvetCrush Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I mean why waste hours watching to see what a committee thinks is best when you can just google the winners list later and watch the performances on youtube
