Zangoose is a normal type, he doesn't evolve (Not even a Mega Evolution, even Banette gets one.) None of the gym leaders use him. He's going to play the "Under The Radar" edit. He's a Ruby exclusive so, people who play Sapphire don't even know he exists. He's in XD: Gale Of Darkness but, not Colosseum. He has that Vin Diesel "bad boy" look that girls like unlike a pretty boy like Conker with blue eyes. Zangoose is not found early in the game, and not late in the game either. You first see him after the third gym, which is RIGHT when everyone has his/her 6 person roster ready to go. Oh geez.

zangoose is a usable mon especially in RS doubles but...

Exactly. Gen 3 Pokemon have such good designs overall! As much as I love the Diamond/Pearl games, the Pokemon from gen 4 are just flat out ugleeeee — lots of gross brown and purple shades + bizarre body designs (off the top of my head I’m thinking Bidoof/Bibarel, Purugly, Skuntank, Mismagius, Honchkrow, Staraptor, Floatzel, Drapion, Magmortar……)

 

Gen 5 is hit or miss for me. It has some of the absolute worst, ugliest Pokemon ever conceived (Ferrothorn, Garbodor, Seismitoad, Conkeldurr) and some of the absolute best (Krookodile, Reuniclus, Mienshao, Minccino, Volcarona).

I mean, I'm probably biased since my very first Pokémon games were Emerald and Blue Rescue Team, but even when trying to look at it objectively, I do believe gen 3 has the best designs overall. They deviated far enough from the older mons to make everything look fresh and unique, but without giving me that weird "Are they even still Pokémon?" feeling that a handful of designs have always given me in the later generations. Like, sure, I don't love every single one, but I'm also seriously struggling to find one I find outright bad.

Nah, I think G3 is mid. So many forgettable designs taking up space in the dex. Gen 2 and 4 eat her up.

This Pokémon picker tool was a great way to go through the shinies and pick a fav by process of elimination (in the Options tab, you can narrow it down to only shiny forms and only gen 3). I hate that they use the ugly Pokémon Home models, but I thought it was more fun to do the elimination game than just look at a shiny sprite sheet.
