Exodus Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Only on ATRL would people be using "camera work" as a reason for a certain performance being better than what we saw yesterday. With that being said, Usher cleaned up. The singing and dancing at his age. Way to represent, ATL!! 👏🏽 4
Marla Singer Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I thought he did good. The only thing I would criticise is perhaps the pacing, it just felt rushed and like there were too many songs, I think it would've benefitted from trimming a couple off the setlist. His perfomance was great though. You know we would all be gagging if a pop girl roller skated on stage! 1
ATRL Moderator Bloo Posted February 12 ATRL Moderator Posted February 12 He did great. I think the main areas of improvement would have been having a more epic and bombastic ending (the ending as is is just a bit sudden and anticlimactic), the start should have been more pronounced to build hype, and some of the camera work. Other than that, it was really good. Enjoyed it. Usher really put his all into the performance—the roller skates part was crazy.
The Next Day Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) Idk much about Usher, but I think it's weird how that will.i.am collab made the cut and DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again didn't, for me one of THE defining songs of the early 2010s and surely more remembered. Would've fit so well too. But I really can say I liked it. He's an entertainer (and MJ fan apparently) through and through, it's just a joy to see someone like that doing what he was born to do. So even the slow jam section didn't fall completely for me. The finale was amazing, although he should've went with a better ending. They just cut away awkwardly. All the guests made sense and didn't overshadow him, so overall this was a great performance Edited February 12 by The Next Day 2
Dark Miracles Posted February 12 Posted February 12 He relied exclusively on his own skills in terms of showmanship and did great tbh Ludacris ate Nitpicks: Turn Down For What felt very out of place and H.E.R. miming the electric guitar was cringe
Lost In Paradise Posted February 12 Posted February 12 best halftime show since Gaga it felt so crazy to see someone with actual talent just go out and display that talent live vocals dancing the house down great songs 3 1

He’s a legacy act now, yeah! came out 20 years ago. The show was supposed to bring that throwback feel back OT: it was fun and full of raw talent. He didn’t need production he WAS the production. the way y’all stay clinging onto the ‘she wasn’t moving’ narrative when she did choreography on like 9 of the 12 songs she performed is hilarious 😭 she wasn’t jumping up and down and doing backflips while 4 months pregnant, shocker!

I really loved the show, he danced, he sang live, he sweated and left his all on the stage. It's really something to see someone this dedicated to their craft. I think DJ and URM should have made it. Ludacris was the best feature imo. Great overall. 1

The camera had to track Usher while he was literally running all over the field and rollerskating. 4
Lightbringer007 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 He KILLED IT! When you actually know how to PERFORM AND SING LIVE! Truly one of the best performers ever for a reason
shark_heather Posted February 12 Posted February 12 + : He sang live , he dance well , he took of his t shirt , he was entertaining in parts - : We are in 2024 , not in 2004 it was missing a couple of WOW stuns that he CAN do, was missing a couple of songs I cannot compare him with the girls cause its completely a different performance but compared to Justin Bruno and Dr Dre ect ... i would put him 2nd after Bruno

DemDam92 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 The show was quite boring. Nothing comes close to Katy Perry, Madonna and Shakira/JLO
