Liafen Posted February 5 Posted February 5 4 hours ago, tiagol88 said: The problem is...Gamepass itself is stagnating. Even with games like Starfield they probably made more money by selling it than having it on Gamepass. You could see Amazon having orders for 1 month of Gamepass on their best sellers for a while meaning most people never had intentions of staying inside the service OR paying for the game. They played the game, realized it sucked and left anyway. Their plan of having Gamepass on Nintendo and Playstation also flopped and these brands never agreed to that, meaning that's more than 200M potential gaming units where their service has been denied as well. MS expected gamers to look at gamepass as people look at Netflix and HBO, never realizing that the way videogames are consumed is VERY different than how we consume TV shows and movies. We always end up paying for the games we really want to play. Even i with PS Plus end up using it not that much cause i prefer to BUY the games i want to play...not the games a service chooses for me to play. It's simply not a good model for most gamers, since most people play one game at a time and around 6 or 7 games a year. The GP doesn't care for this and M<s never really realized that basic thing. That's why Nintendo will never abandon their model...or Sony. And if MS is literally starting to SELL their games on other consoles, they themselves are realizing their own service is not all that and ultimately SELLING your games is the way to go. Meanwhile Xbox spent 7 years educating their users to not buy games and devaluating them, and having them on their own service...how are you going back on this one day and try to make them buy anything ever again? You can't... MS is also giving up on physical games, meaning lots of stores will probably not care if they sell Xbox hardware anyway since most of their sales come from software sales. On top of all of this, Nintendo and Sony will now get around 30% of EVERY MS game that sells on their own stores. How did MS kept ******* up i'll never know. But this is not just because of that one E3 in 2023...they kept failing ever seince then. Sony ****** up with the PS3 and recovered DURING that same gen. Let's stop blaming one E3 from 12 years ago as the reason Xbox is now failing. This CEO has been ruining the brand for a decade now and the results are here. when you put it like that...
popmusicisdead Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Jesus pack it up atp. literally no reason for Xbox to even exist

Let's not forget the dozens of "PS exclusive" titles that eventually ended up on other platforms as well This to be quite honest. OT: I mean, what? Kii at this being the plan all along? The leaks last year said they'd built PS5 versions of Starfield and Indiana Jones already, you didnt think they'd release them and make some coins? Didn't Phil say the strategy of Xbox is to meet players where they want to play, many moons ago? It's clear Microsoft wants to own the gaming industry, and have their toes dipped permanently into every part of the water. An all-digital future was explicitly talked about during the Xbox One era where, again, Microsoft was ahead of the curve with the DRM policies that are being implemented by every company today. The next Xbox consoles definitely won't even have a disc drive and will likely be that upgradable type of PC-console hybrid they keep rumoring. Xbox consoles are a pure fan service they can just afford to have just to keep 20-30 million subs in their ecosystem, which is the strategy of Xbox hardware and has been since the launch of the Xbox One X. A collapse? I am here for Xbox and Microsoft being the dominant force in gaming tbh. The leaks state they'll be buying more studios. Im here for it. And Im also here for the apparently insane games showcase this insider states they are having. I feel worried for Sony and Nintendo however, I dont think Microsoft was joking when the leak came out they wanted to acquire Nintendo, if the rumors come to life that Xbox Network will in fact be added to Nintendo consoles in the future, I see a lot more shake-ups coming from MS. And what can Sony do? They rely on hardware sales in 2024, we love a traditional company, but I dont think thats stable for them in an all-digital future. They'll want to compete somehow. If Microsoft Studios titles are going to the top-selling games on Sony and Nintendo's platforms, I couldn't really possibly see that as any kind of loss. Even when I worked for MS (around the time Mixer was a thing ) the vibe was they've always wanted to be the dominant force in gaming, I can't believe it's coming to fruition. Phil may be smarter than I ever really thought Edited February 5 by Afterglow
Patient Zero Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Very wise of MS. I mean, they invested 70bln on IP's. How are they going to make a profit when no one wants your console?

poki Posted February 6 Posted February 6 So hyped for Hi-Fi Rush, xbox almost tempted me with that one I have to admit.
airplane Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) It’s a WRAP for Xbox. I loved the kinect but never wanted to buy another console from them after the 360. The game pass is amazing and everything but i’m glad this is happening! Thank you and goodbye Xbox. Edited February 6 by airplane
LustSpell Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) Xbox goes the way of SEGA Regardless, if the industry is heading towards their original goals they wished with the Xbox One, their presentation in 2013 debuting the Xbox One was their utter downfall and no one can say otherwise. Add an onslaught of awful games and refusing to adapt to the ecosystem killed them. Sony will be competing with themselves it seems, and Nintendo will stay in their own lane. Shows that throwing money around but having no competent business leaders won't make people buy your product. Like, why debut a game on game pass the same day it releases for $70? You're just losing severe profit. It's idiotic. Edited February 6 by LustSpell
Walk_Away21 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 PS5 in its Taylor Swift era wow. And Starfield sure could use the players and promo so it makes sense.
Starshine Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) I think this is kind of bad for consumers, as bad as Microsoft buying up x amount of established studios. But also great because we can have those Xbox games that would have been exclusives. It’ll only be a PlayStation + Nintendo world, with less competition. I own both systems and cloud stream PC games, but the past few years have been bad with price increases. Sony can do whatever now because they’re literally competing with themselves, they don’t even occupy the same lane as Nintendo. Edited February 6 by Starshine
Domination Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Playstation stans are SO weird. Xbox stans barely even exist anymore because they (logically) merged with PC gamers. Literally everyone else moved on.
FailSafe Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) Xtinabox can keep those flop first person shooting games no one cares. I'm only here for Evil Within 3 for the PS5 Edited February 6 by FailSafe
