It's hinted at in the OP. An influential politician there happens to be gay and he is effective at implementing policies that protect gay people and steering the country's economic direction in a way that views gays in a positive way (possible sources of income), thus creating initiatives like these marketing campaigns emphasizing how accepting they are. I hope it's really true. 1
