Big Bad Wolf Posted February 3 Posted February 3 (edited) She's the Madonna of Rap. People forget Madonna too was once trashed viciously in the media. Yes, it was different, and Nicki's behavior is questionable, but let's not act like she doesn't have the influence, impact, sales, and artistry to back up the Madonna of Rap claims! Lil’ Kim’s influence, you mean? Sales from her pop songs? Artistry? 1 1
Archetype Posted February 3 Posted February 3 One of the things mentioned in this thread is akin to a talking dumpster filled with coke, and the other is a respected legend with decades of good music and awards to her name.
Blue Monday Posted February 3 Posted February 3 (edited) Nicki has not ever approached the visual excellence Madonna did, so absolutely not Edited February 3 by Blue Monday

808dream Posted February 3 Posted February 3 No disrespect to Nicki but when Madonna started making records 40 years ago she changed the way pop music was conceived. New rules were set, her arrival was a watershed for any female popstar to come after her, including NM. Madonna has been controversial throughout her whole career because of the religious meaning her name carries and for triggering subjects related to Christianity, se*uality and for sticking her neck out for the lgbtq+ community when nobody dared to. She was occasionally shady but she never set feuds against other popstar like her own legacy. She might have now lost the innovative power she had when she first started, but it's truly something else compared to NM.
