vuelve88 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) Fans have been wondering for many years why Shakira has so many collaborations, and often with random latin music artists that are beneath her level of stardom, almost as if she is forced to do it. Today, Afo Verde (CEO of Sony Music Latin) confirmed to Billboard that it's literally part of Sony Music's strategy. Here's the quote from Billboard: Of the hundreds of artists signed to the labels [Afo] Verde runs, one stands out: Shakira. “She is a cornerstone of our strategy to present powerful role models in Latin music to the international markets, he says of the Colombian singer-songwriter, citing her “remarkable international appeal.” https://www.billboard.com/h/billboard-2024-power-100-list/ I hope Shakira moves to a different label. Taste of Honey Posted January 31 Posted January 31 And it's blatantly obvious. Not saying that it's the only factor, but it's probably one why her artistry has suffered. 4
GeeDuval Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) Imagine how tired we are of that rat! He should let her focus on her own damn career in peace everything she presents to him he attaches someone from Sony that’s either bout to drop an album or need a second peak. 17 minutes ago, Fastlane said: Rihanna should be thankful. That wasn’t Afo’s work that was Jay Brown. He was looking to give Rihanna her 15th #1 it was a forced collaboration by roc nation that was saved by the sexy video, so in a way they benefited from each other. Edited January 31 by GeeDuval
Shinning Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Why does she allow this? She used to be such an artisté. 6 1

Knowing her history in dabbling with taxes, one can only assume she’s actually actively benefiting from this whole situation and perhaps has a bigger role within the establishment.
bliaz Posted January 31 Posted January 31 It makes sense. Too bad. This Shakira is not the one I used to love. Her music is very basic, generic now 1
BrokenMachine Posted January 31 Posted January 31 This is bad from an artistic point of view but great as a commercial strategy I guess Also, all the drags of 'Shakira only relies in collabs, she's clinging into newer artists' are now useless, her power I fear 4

Most likely. She probably owns stock in Sony Music Latin too, or it's part of their "partnership". 4
Erreur2 La Nature Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Wasn’t it extremely obvious ? That’s what most labels do. They use their biggest artists to « promote » the smaller ones.
x æ a-xii Posted January 31 Posted January 31 why do i feel she negotiated not to be forced to drop an album/not to promote/not to tour, in exchange to collab with random people at Sony... damn woman wasted all her hype from last year with terrible songs, even Acrostigod fixed the GP's opinion over her artistry for some time, until she unleashed that terrible song with that random ranchera group rip to the playlist for now I guess 4
x æ a-xii Posted January 31 Posted January 31 and CRTFY was the other way around, Roc Nation used Rihanna to remind people Shakira was alive lol 2

They thought with the radio deal they were gonna secure #1 debut. Thank God for the sexy video cause Edited January 31 by GeeDuval 1
vuelve88 Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 “Studio albums by Shakira” in 2024. That can’t be a typo. Is she releasing multiple albums this year?
Magic_boXX Posted February 1 Posted February 1 That's a slap in the face to her loyal fans when it comes to authenticity. But on the flip side it gives Shakira more exposure to the new generation of people. Im conflicted on how I feel. 2
shakeyourbombom Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Yikes, how many artists did Shakira help to raise? 1. Maluma 2. Carlos Vives 3. Ozuna (revived his career) 4. Bizarrap 5. Karol G (in Europe, UK etc.) 6. Fuerza Regida 7. Prince Royce 8. Anuel AA 9. Manuel Turizo 10. Rauw Alejadro 11. Black Eyed Peas (Revived their career) 12. Camilo & Pedro Capo 13. Nicky Jam Enough is enough 3
