Dante Silva Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Could it be that Universal are involved in the development of an as yet un-announced rival platform to TikTok and have plans to move their catalogue there? 2

Sad lil mini republican wannabes.
holyground13 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I I study a music business module and we're going to have a field day discussing this tomorrow. Mess, screw them.

Unusualyou Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Someone knows if UMG already pull out her music catalogue? I don’t use tik tok

Oooo...I see the vision. The Tidal to TikTok's Spotify. It would be an intriguing development if that ends up being the case. 7 minutes ago, holyground13 said: I I study a music business module and we're going to have a field day discussing this tomorrow. charot Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) Exactly. It's not like people listen to songs in full there. These days the best (or probably the only) way to get your materials reach wider audience and blow up outside stan bubble is through tiktok. Edited January 31 by charot 1
Nutitle Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Shouldn't all of this be happening in private meetings? Not on social media
imabadkid Posted January 31 Posted January 31 UMG needs TikTok not the other way around TBH. TikTok can go back to having underground/unsigned artists' sounds blowing up... the music industry is dead and HALF of the songs popular on Billboard are a result of TikTok. Whether people like it or not, TikTok is the new popular IT girl at school. The other girls like Twitter are irrelevant and IG is the girl that was once popular but people are slowly moving on. JUST SAYIN'. 3 1

I love your avi by the way! 1
Dear Reader Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) what an awful response. whoever approved this has no idea how to manage social networks Also, not some people getting into the “UMG needs TikTok” argument. Wouldn’t you value your company defending your rights? Edited January 31 by Dear Reader 3
HeavyMetalAura Posted January 31 Posted January 31 This sounds like what Donald Trump would write if he learned how to stop using so many exclamation points and ALL CAPs. 1
jadeabove Posted January 31 Posted January 31 TikTok panders to the general public to win their cause just like Uber did, when their monopoly on the market started to raise questions for local taxi drivers (in Quebec). If they get the public on their side, Universal will have no choice but to comply.

Wouldn’t you value your company defending your rights? No mizgirl... I'm saying UMG needs TikTok because no matter how you look at it - the music industry is dying right now and the only thing propping it up is TikTok. Whether people like it or not, that's where we are right now. I get what UMG is saying but now isn't the time to flex your muscle when you need these platforms but that's JMO.

I wasn’t quoting what you said directly. I get your point, but if I were said artists, I’d be glad my company would stay by my side, no matter what. It’s about making a statement and maybe others will follow suit. It’s like when Taylor removed her catalogue from Streaming platforms and changes were made. Edited January 31 by Dear Reader

Doogle Posted January 31 Posted January 31 We always lament the loss of Madonna, Mariah, Janet et al going at it with each other But the modern equivalent isn’t pop girls, it’s the gay interns logged in to corporation Twitter accounts
Margaux Posted January 31 Posted January 31 tiktok can survive without umg lbr. their artists can't, tiktok made the sped up versions popular. a lot of these artists always promote and make some kind of tiktok dance challenge. it's very different than radio since tiktok is basically ww 3
