Well, maybe not nominated for album of the year (although in its time it was a huge success with A list producers) but Wrecking Ball for example totally deserved some nominations even in the big 4.

The full article is more positive and seems like Grammy campaigning, I see it more as a sign that she WILL attend

This was back in the day when there were only 5 nominees for album of the year.

Someone is going to have to put forward a real convincing argument why one of those 5 albums at the 2015 awards show should not have been there.

 

Surely people are not saying Beyonce should have missed out on a nomination?

 

Of course you could say Pharrell should not have been there, but he was there for the exact same reason Miley is there this year, his album had a huge hit associated with it.

 

The same can be said for Sam Smith, an album with a big hit and it was a big hit that won Grammys.

 

You can't really get rid of the only rock/folk/alternative nominee and add another pop artist, so Beck should stay, or he should get replaced from someone else from the rock/folk/alternative/americana genres. There were some good options such as St. Vincent and The War on Drugs.

 

That just leaves Ed Sheeran, even though "Thinking Out Loud" won SOTY the following year.

But let's get rid of Ed Sheeran, that still leaves quite a lot of pop music in the AOTY year nominees.

 

Is there really such a strong argument for Bangerz to get the nomination, or perhaps it should have been one of these instead?

There is a better argument for Wrecking Ball in BPSP, rather than insisting that Bangerz should have been in AOTY.
