Safe&Sound Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Despite, well, her branching out to indie/alternative/folk-ish sound, I know it's always deep inside her The question is, can she push her sound to new layer? Her Pop sound is kinda stuck at this point It's always either some Pop-Rock or bubblegum mashed into synth-pop sound, and she added some reverb on Midnights and that's it Can she pull, let's say Disco? Or some R&B?
FolkLover1989 Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Next is rock for her But TIWYCF is great so she has the potential there too 1 4 1
Katamari Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 She would slay italo disco / synthwave she could pull it off
wastedpotential Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 She's shown herself, and especially her melodic compositions, to be quite versatile across several genres. I think disco would probably be a limiting sound for her because it's not exactly forgiving of some of her lyrical habits, but as a one-off or as a smaller part of a larger project, absolutely. 6
Popular Post Popboi. Posted January 27, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 27, 2024 She won 3 album of the year GRAMMYs with 3 different genres she probably wouldn’t do disco as lyrics are her priority and that could be distracting. 8 5 2 5
Tropez Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 She can pull disco. Anyone can do disco. For a little music history. It was a joke in the 70s that you had to do disco to even get on the radio. Which was why The Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart had a disco hit. Staying in one genre or a certain range isn’t a bad thing. That’s what most artists do. You know them for a sound spectrum that they release in. 9 1

What? Disco is just a a genre with a four-on-the-floor rhythm. Lyrics and music composition are two different things. It won’t even be distracting. That’s like saying rock, or rap can’t have strong lyrics because the beat would be too distracting. See how dumb that sounds? 1 1
shimind Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 She did a dubstep song back in 2012 and its probably the biggest one this century in that genre. She can slay any kind of genre. 1 3
theoghon Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 (edited) Not ATRL swifties STILL mumbling and scheming about gEnRe ShIfTs, AS IF blondie hasn't shown time and again that she'll KEEP churning out the samo ol' cheugy aaron dessner/Jack Antonoff'd duds Edited January 27, 2024 by theoghon 9 1 1 2 15
NEX Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 I mean Kylie Minogue did disco. What does Kylie have that Taylor doesn't? Literally anyone can do disco and I think Taylor could successfully put her own spin on it too if she ventured in that direction. But I don't think anyone really wants a disco album from her. We want a rock album. 1 1 1
TensionThingz Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 (edited) Pop-rock would be nice Edited January 27, 2024 by TensionThingz

She would easily pull off disco tingled music but that’s another question. 1

Lyricism is an art form, and you can apply your art to any medium. 2

I’m sorry but what are these genres you speak of? Pop country, pop, and alt pop? OT: yes, her voice is light enough for disco so it would probably sound good. I would be interested in hearing some alt rock from her though because I’m a bit tired of anything that came after IKYWT 5 2 7

Goaty Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Melody is one of her biggest strengths as a songwriter so I'm sure she could pull of disco if she wanted. Don't really see her ever touching R&B, though. 1
jimerson Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 there are always rumors in Chinese swifties that the 2016 era was supposed to be a disco album release... but then all that drama happens... 1

Yog Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Taylor will most definitely do an disco album, probably wait till her forties do the annual “middle age dance album”, like Cher, Madonna, Beyoncé & Kylie
