Can Taylor Swift pull Disco? Or any other sound?

Recommended Posts

Despite, well, her branching out to indie/alternative/folk-ish sound, I know it's always deep inside her

The question is, can she push her sound to new layer?

Her Pop sound is kinda stuck at this point

It's always either some Pop-Rock or bubblegum mashed into synth-pop sound, and she added some reverb on Midnights and that's it

Can she pull, let's say Disco?

Or some R&B?

She's shown herself, and especially her melodic compositions, to be quite versatile across several genres. I think disco would probably be a limiting sound for her because it's not exactly forgiving of some of her lyrical habits, but as a one-off or as a smaller part of a larger project, absolutely.

She can pull disco. Anyone can do disco. For a little music history. It was a joke in the 70s that you had to do disco to even get on the radio. Which was why The Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart had a disco hit.

Staying in one genre or a certain range isn’t a bad thing. That’s what most artists do. You know them for a sound spectrum that they release in.

What? Disco is just a a genre with a four-on-the-floor rhythm. Lyrics and music composition are two different things. It won’t even be distracting. That’s like saying rock, or rap can’t have strong lyrics because the beat would be too distracting. See how dumb that sounds?

She did a dubstep song back in 2012 and its probably the biggest one this century in that genre. She can slay any kind of genre.

I mean Kylie Minogue did disco. What does Kylie have that Taylor doesn't? Literally anyone can do disco and I think Taylor could successfully put her own spin on it too if she ventured in that direction. But I don't think anyone really wants a disco album from her. We want a rock album.

When talking about real disco music (not the pop with some disco nods that everyone calls disco right now) the focus are either production or grand vocals to match.

She would easily pull off disco tingled music but that’s another question.

Like I said. Disco is disco. Many artists have proven that it’s more than just a sound. And can be taken seriously. Lyricism is an art form, and you can apply your art to any medium.

I’m sorry but what are these genres you speak of? Pop country, pop, and alt pop?

OT: yes, her voice is light enough for disco so it would probably sound good. I would be interested in hearing some alt rock from her though because I’m a bit tired of anything that came after IKYWT

Melody is one of her biggest strengths as a songwriter so I'm sure she could pull of disco if she wanted. Don't really see her ever touching R&B, though.

there are always rumors in Chinese swifties that the 2016 era was supposed to be a disco album release... but then all that drama happens...

Taylor will most definitely do an disco album, probably wait till her forties do the annual “middle age dance album”, like Cher, Madonna, Beyoncé & Kylie

Disco, maybe. But R&B? Hell no.

This is a very dumb take in general.

plus its not like she prioritizes lyrics for songs like shake it off or me anyway

The absolute nerve of a britney stan to be posting **** about demo vocals when you stan a universally panned loser who is so talentless that her label outsources vocals to Myah Marie rather than make her flat ass sing and the few times she actually manages to open her miserable mouth and make noises that a mic hears, it is so awful that the arena managers pop in a SIA demo cd and force her to lip that instead of making the audience hear the most nasal offkey whining she calls singing...
