Jack! Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) Using her an an example, she released her debut album the latter half of last year to a large amount of critical acclaim, you could argue she's bringing a quirk that pop music has missed the last couple of years. Her music is (arguably) a bit T.S. coded, she's working with Dan ***** who's the producer behind Olivia's records. She's pretty, great live (and selling out shows too) and is signed to a major label. What's stopping her, and a lot of these other smaller name artists who are releasing really great pop music, from breaking through into the major markets? Is the GP complacent with the household names they have or are artists like this missing something that would take them up another level in their careers? Edited January 27 by Jack!
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted January 26 ATRL Moderator Posted January 26 I liked her debut initially but there's something faceless about her persona that doesn't make her stick out to me but she's doing alright at the moment. She's touring with Olivia soon so I expect to see pick up a bigger following if she's good live. to be a MPG today is kinda random... you need a huge smash + following up with other hits. that initial smash is so hard to get
nadiamendell Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) The question SHOULD be what's stopping the creation of MPGs??? What new ones do we have, other than Olivia??? We're getting to the point where there will be no MPGs or MPBs. Edited January 26 by nadiamendell
abrantino Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I like her but her music is for the queers, GP isn't here for that sound 2 1 1
Joyride Posted January 26 Posted January 26 it's giving Icona Pop meets some random Pop singer from the UK
Cameltoe Chariot Posted January 26 Posted January 26 That name for starters I also gave a couple of her songs a listen after I noticed some hype around her and I was unimpressed. She gives Winner of The Voice teas
robattack332 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I like some the Chappell songs....wtf does she know about MPGs?! Jokes aside, I do actually like some of her songs.....she's kinda serving college theatre project w/ potential though. It's not quite there yet, but she can write a good song so we'll keep an eye out.
Bosque Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Her name came to mind immediately. But she doesn’t seem to be aiming for the mainstream anyway.
Rotunda Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I think she’s a little too intentionally cringe/corny for the GP. She’s for the theater kids and baby gays.
Dante Silva Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I like her and bought the album on release week. I’d much rather listen to her pure pop sound as opposed to more RnB inflected artists like Tate McRae.
AvadaKedavra Posted January 27 Posted January 27 (edited) Her name is too hard to remember. The double pp and ll. Strange name. She needs to be more basic. Her music has too much personality and the GP loves basic. She's a lesbian. The GP is very homophobic and is better to hide it at first. Music too pop in a disco-r&B enviroment. Kimi Posted January 27 Posted January 27 It takes some time to be MPG, I discovered Billie eilish in 2017 and was asking myself the same question and look at her now. Your girl might be future star. 1
What_A_Mess Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Love her. One of my most listened artist inthe last two years California, casual, femininomenon, love me anyway, pink pony club, and My Kink is Karma >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
fauxtography Posted January 27 Posted January 27 The answer is in those videos you posted Love ha album, dont get me wrong, but literally nothing screams MPG about her. She's more like a Marina.
4skinbutter Posted January 27 Posted January 27 shes too queer aesthetic coded. The gp likes watered down aesthetics like olivia
Bimbo Posted January 27 Posted January 27 She’s too corny to be a MPG. Everything feels too theatre kid. 1
samsclubPRESENTSavam Posted January 27 Posted January 27 taylor swift is a mary jane, in that she plays it very straight and safe, which is attractive to families and young girls. it's easy to pretend to see themselves in taylor. parents do not worry about explaining a title like "my kink is karma". chappell has songs about being gay and her wardrobe is very fun in the way that would intimidate taylor's audience. chappell will not be swift but she is doing great, though.

Iaintsorry Posted August 6 Posted August 6 There are no new MPG's because the idea of a MPG has been replaced by influencers and content creators
