WASHINGTON, Jan 26 (Reuters) - The White House said on Friday it was alarmed by fake online images of the pop singer Taylor Swift and said social media companies have an important role to play in enforcing their own rules to prevent the spread of such misinformation.

Fake sexually explicit images of Swift proliferated across social media this week, including one image shared on X, formerly Twitter, that the New York Times said was viewed 47 million times before the account was suspended.

I mean, I’d also prefer they take legislative action over the genocide in Gaza but this is important legislation to lay the foundation for our future. Glad they’re at least doing something about it. Sucks it had to take the most famous person in the world suffering from it before they moved though, an innocent teenage life was already lost over this crap despite the discourse all last year about this exact possibility.

Taylor is not the first, nor the only person that this has happened to. Taylor speaking up about it and the reaction to it led to the White House looking into the matter. I would assume the same thing could happen about other serious world issues if Taylor ever spoke up about ANYTHING other than herself, her money or her reputation. But I guess that's expecting too much!

AI is a dangerous technology that needs to be controlled, and the fact that you can commit all sorts of crime with this severely threatening technology is so ******* terrible. I'm happy that Taylor is using her power and platform to bring attention to this topic, and thankfully, change the way AI is consumed forever.
