Yeah it was a like 25 minute set but it was so packed the main stage was empty when she was on, the whole festival tried to pack into the dance tents, and as soon as the riff to Hung Up came on the cool hipsters forgot about being ironic and detached and started screaming like a gay at the Britney concert. Iconic! 1 2 1
Gov Hooka Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Good maybe ticket sales can drop and the lineup/vibe can go away from the completely mainstream A-list headlining influencer crap show nonsense it currently is to the original indie/weirdo vibe it used to be. (Also I want to go )
CarCAL22 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Coachella peaked well over a decade ago, now it's just become a money grab influencer playground.
Zendayababes Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Quote In 2023, sales cooled slightly, despite the lure of a rare, but ultimately doomed Frank Ocean appearance. That year, tickets for Coachella’s first weekend — the more coveted of the two — took days, not hours, to sell.

Only Doja is interesting. Also perched to see ATEEZ and Le Sserafim's sets. You had me until ATEEZ
Lyrical. Posted January 26 Posted January 26 It’s Lana headlining for me. People go to Coachella to party, not to sleep. 1 5 2

CristianGarcia Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Everybody that wanted to see Doja just saw her on tour and nobody wants to see the other two

Machete Posted January 26 Posted January 26 For me it isn't that the headliners are bad, they are standard festival acts, but that is the issue. The hype about Coachella was that it wasn't a standard festival, it was THEE festival. The headliners were people you could only see every 2-3 years when they tour and nowhere else. Bey, Eminem, Kanye, even someone like Harry. Again, Doja Tyler and Lana are all big artists but I feel like they are ALWAYS headlining festivals so what is special about them doing Coachella. I'm sure Coachella will sell out over the next couple months like how normal festivals do, but if they keep booking acts like this then long gone are the days where it sells out within the first couple hours. 1

Well you’re wrong sweetie. Coachella was an indie festival before Madonna made it a mainstream thing. In fact, the reason it’s declining is because it got infested with influencers and they started booking acts like harry styles bad bunny, drake, and I like him but the weekend. Just people who are terrible on stage and are too pop for Coachella attendees who go for the indie acts and not because it’s the trendy festival. But a las like I said in my first post, every trend eventually dies off. Them booking Lana, Tinashe and Tyler is them getting back to their roots in a way.
on the line Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Hipster culture is officially dead! Good riddance though. I always need to go to Palm Springs in April and Coachella always fucks it up! Hopefully it's near its end!

Okay but the peak of Coachella began when they started booking the Madonnas and Kanyes. That’s what gave them their best selling years. If they reverted back to booking indie people they would be selling even slower than right now. The audience they attract through pop-py artists like The Weeknd or Harry Styles is far more than what a group like Blur would give them nowadays. Every festival has opened up to mainstream acts because of this now. Edited January 26 by Machete

Every festival has opened up to mainstream acts because of this now. Both true, but like someone already mentioned, the festival’s commercial peak was from Madonna, the Tupac hologram, to Beyoncé. Anyone who came after her are not performers, maaaybe Ariana but that’s it and yeah, I could see them going back to one weekend if the trend chasers and pop fans stop going Edited January 26 by dirrtydiana
alestevens Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Karma is a shaking hip. Aren't you envious that for you it's not, Coachella? 1
NEUTRON Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I feel like Coachella is an experience every music lover should experience at least once. I went for Gaga & Beyoncé and dont plan on returning until they get Rihanna on that stage
Letemtalk Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I remember a few years ago when the headline acts were Radiohead, Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar, three acts most people would want to see at least once in their lifetime. Even then they didn't quite deliver, because there were problems with the sound system for Radiohead on weekend #1 and they had to get a last minute substitute for Beyonce, because she was pregnant with twins. But the original line-up was top level. People will argue about indie-rock vs pop, but if they are going to have pop artists headlining, they need to be top level for the price Coachella are charging. Otherwise it's just another festival, but with too many annoying influencers.
MP3 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I’m sure if Shakira was one of the headliner tickets would have moved faster, it seems like she’s on a momentum right now
If U Seek Amy Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Might just be me. But the lineup sucks. Overly expensive for a bad lineup 1 2
