I know Dua Lipa probably was not the most happy about the initial roll out but I am sure she is happy to perform Training Season at the Grammys!!
Solaria Posted February 3 Posted February 3 I’m predicting a #17 debut for this with about 3,058,891 streams

Digitalism Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Is this confirmed to be performed tonight? If it is, this reminds me of the digital era strategy where they hold the digital single release until it has a lot of audience on radio. In this case they would do tiktok promo + a few seconds of a performance before release. It would be interesting to see how it performs. If this works I can see other artists trying it. 2
Starkboy Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I mean it's not the first time labels try to create hype and anticipation about a song release. It worked well for hit such as Greedy, Unholy and most recently Beautiful Things. they especially try to go viral on tiktok so it's a surefire smash as soon as it's released.
Labraiseofficial Posted February 4 Posted February 4 its giving atypical pre release rollout and we love a good strategy by dulapeepa 1
xicnx Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Source: Rolling Stone Music Now podcast - Inside the 66th Annual Grammy Awards They teased a bit about Dua's upcoming Grammys performance Host: (mentions new stuff x1) And Dua Lipa obviously has new stuff coming up; I imagine it’s a forward-looking performance Raj Kapoor(Grammy Awards producer): I would say there's a little bit of everything there. She had a huge song with Dance the night. Also Houdini has been a huge hit right now. I think there are so many great things happening around Dua. She loves choreography, she loves production. Later in the same podcast... Raj Kapoor: The show is packed with many great moments there's gonna be some surprises on the stage. We do our best to create moments that even hopefully take other artist in the room by surprise. Because there really is just that feelings that happened that tingly sensations like omg I cannot believe that I am actually seeing that person or I have missed that person so much! [...] we do have other moments planned in the show there will be things that I think every body will be talking about that night and into the next day. Host: (mentions new stuff x2) Would it be safe to say that as with Dua Lipa the idea may be to celebrate a little bit of the past as well as this new thing. Raj Kapoor: I would say that it's part of conversation The new stuff/thing, aka training season is coming They also talked about the opening performance having lots of energy, which would include a full stage production, opening with a band and many dancers. It sounds like a Dua performance to me. But could also be other people 3

Bosque Posted February 4 Posted February 4 If she genuinely performs this at the Grammys without releasing it until February 15th on streaming, it will confirm her new management as being the most clueless in the entire industry 2

Plus it is more exciting for the fans this way! 1

It’s for sure going to generate a lot of buzz despite the fact that people want instant gratification of being able to have the song immediately. We know Dua’s all about longevity instead of debuts. It’s giving Britney performing S4U at the VMAs and releasing the track nearly a month later. 4
Kristie Kuwa Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) I agree with most here: I'm glad shes trying to switch it up. If it succeeds, its gonna boost her profile, if not, she can always push it later on with "standard" strategies Safe girlies are exactly that - safe. The true big hitters are those who dare to be different in one way or the other Edited February 4 by Kristie Kuwa 8
4Walls Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I feel like this whole era is going to flop. I can feel it in my bones. Serving a Bionic situation. The snippet sounds boring/not catchy. But the GP also eats that kind of stuff up so. I guess we'll see. 1 1 4

It’s not different nor exciting nor will it generate buzz especially after Houdini had a very subdued reaction in the USA. Maybe as a direct follow up to Levitating, this could’ve worked, but now, no way. love the snippet but c’mon. This release strategy will lead to a tremendous flop if it’s true Not the closest comparison you could think of being 20 years ago she should take risks in her music, not in bizarre marketing strategies that have zero value add for either fans or casual listeners Edited February 4 by Dephira

On Top of that, it will also feature Houdinis first live performance. All of this will then activate word of mouth so that more and more people will want to hear Training Season when its out a week later. When its finally out, this could lead to quite a big first day. It can surely go either way, but dont rule out Ms Lipa prematurely Edited February 4 by Kristie Kuwa

Beyoncé at Coachella, maybe? Edited February 4 by Dephira

torontowest91 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 She needs to get it out before Reputation or Arianna
xicnx Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Dua giving so many interviews on red carpet about training season, it's what she deserves
