It's called having a vision/concept and sticking with it. And they were not the same unlike the comments here.

I still have faith in Dua. I know the album will be strong. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say the era so far has been underwhelming. Music videos are meh. Very limited magazine covers to entertain us with. Silly interviews with no performances. She’s had some great fashion moments but I’m so sick of the red and black, she looks the same, both performances had the exact same aesthetic, switch it up girl, excite us. She rarely bothers to do her hair. I mean part of what made me stan FN was the overall era. Aesthetics, visuals, good videos (minus DSN), the constant surprises and slayage. I feel like this time around all that’s keeping me holding on is the prospect of a possible good album. The music is most important at the end of the day. But yeah… I dunno, meh.

Okay, I’m glad I’m not the only who’s over the red and black!
Like dark era doesn’t have to only be black!  She should take note from Rih’s red hair era!  Dua isn’t going for loud/big colors but I think she can spice it up a bit! Like the single over for Houdini was really giving more of a pop!

I'm not going to lie the numbers are a bit underwhelming and they worry me a bit, however I still know the álbum will be solid and her tour will be big. I just hope she carriles with the era and releases lots of singles with good videos.

I really feel that there is this wow or pop star feel lacking in the era specially in the videos. I want her to serve a wow video.

Also look at eras like TTAL from P!nk, the 3rd single was the smash that carried the whole thinh for the most part, she can still have that one big hit when the album comes out with a great video

Any chance of Training Season became a smash? I'm obsessed since the release, but I didn't see the love it deserve until now, with this performance. I hope it starting to grow.

Glad to hear. I think most of us are obsessed with Training Season as well. I think the most we can tell now is that it is stable WW and gaining on US radio and has the potential to have longevity like Houdini.

The extended edit is so good, kinda bummed it's not the original mix! :loud:

Idk for me personally I wasn’t all that excited for the FN era until the album actually dropped

Houdini and TS have me way more hyped musically, it’s just the insane wait times between EVERYTHING this era that sucks.

Yea kinda a bummer the short versions of H and TS will surely be the album ones. I'd love for her to do an extended for the full album and not just the singles

Music industry was way different when TTAL was released and streaming was not that big, nowadays is rare to have 3rd or 4th singles be smashes, unless it's a remix or something like that

It can perform like Billie’s Happier Than Ever, it had like 4(?) pre release singles and none of them actually sticked until she released the album and made the title track a single

I’d be content if something like that happened to DL3

Levitating, Karma, Happier Than Ever, Traitor, pov, Save Your Tears, Cuff It etc all became hits after their album’s release in the streaming era.

Its definitely harder nowadays, but ironically Dua’s “facelessness” in the US serves her well here since she can release, go relatively

underneath the radar on release, then have one of her songs grow into a big hit. What makes it hard to get a hit post-album release in the streaming era is that everyone hears all the songs on album’s release, but if only Dua’s core fanbase tunes in at first, there’s definitely room for a hit.

Half of those songs were helped by a remix and the other half were not really huge hits tbh, probably Happier than ever could be the best scenario for Dua, but still a long shot

I can't stop watching that performance :jonny6:

I've been following Dua since new love can't believe how much she grew, she's here to stay... sorry for everyone else

I mean The Weeknd still had a smash with SYT and that was a 4th single. I know his position at the time was different but still you never know what can catch on

I heard there's a Fleetwood Mac-inspired cut on the album, with a structure akin to HTE(song), SURELY it will be the conversation point on DL3 & tiktok will eat it up

It's kind of weird how Dua never capitalized on these award-show performances by releasing an Official Dance Video to both Houdini and TS

I know that the budget for it is probably the same as filming a music video anyway, but still...

After seeing people praise her for her dancing skills, her willingness to improve her stage presence, and the Houdini dance break going viral, maybe she should do that to extend the era a little bit better. I'm kind of tired of these behind-the-scenes photos on her IG
