curiousladybug Posted February 20 Posted February 20 So some apparent tea about the OG video and why it was decided it's not gonna be released. It was in the same "world" as the one that was released, meaning it contained minimalistic editing and a plain color pallet, but the story is a bit different. It starts off with Dua and "her bf" walking amongst all these men, none of whom care about Dua now that she has a bf.. Then the argument starts and they break up, music starts right after he leaves her, Dua walks around the city alone and then men start noticing her being alone and start taking action towards her. At first it starts innocently with them giving her flowers, chocolates in a shape of hearts,... Then right before the second chorus things shart taking a turn for the worse with men starting to fight each other, destroying things around them, violently grabbing her.. (Bridge hits) Dua then starts running and bunch of men start running after her (all this in slow motion).. When the last chorus hits things start being REALLY messed up with men using weapons against each other, start running cars trying to catch Dua, destroying buildings/cars around them and completely losing their mind. Consumed by all this hate they end up forgetting about Dua and they end up accidentally k wording Dua and we see her laying on the streets while a bunch of them gather around her after noticing. They quickly lose interest and leave her laying there like nothing happened and they go back to their usual day. Dua "wakes up" and is back at the begging with her bf we saw at the start, she realises it was all a “fantasy” and she laughs and leaves the scene with him, they’re holding hands. She then turns and winks at us. The end. 1
SayIt Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Loving how her angelic vocals stands out in the acapella version

State of Grace. Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) None of those Twitter insiders is reliable. I really don't see the album coming anytime before mid-May at this point. Maybe even June. To be fair, Dua won't be competing for #1 on the BB200 so it doesn't matter if she releases close to the Taylor domination, but they're definitely gonna aim for better debuts/peaks in the rest of the world and it wouldn't be smart to release right after her. It’s way more difficult to push numbers here for an international popstar. Dua does in fact pull bigger numbers in such continents compared to the typical popstar’s stats. 640k vs 3.2M tells you are quite global. 5 1
Bloodflowers. Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Dua shouldn't delay or punish her A-list status in international markets because the US isn't on board (so far). Hope the album is coming even if it underperforms in US this time around. She was doing fine during self-titled era when only New Rules was her only US hit and other songs (including One Kiss) were massive hits globally

I get why they chose to not release this version though. 1 hour ago, Owlie said: this person is reliable I guess The “chaos” hint is giving me fan theory/assumption teas. I believe it will come late April too, I just don’t think they know that. I actually don’t think Dua’s team is all that concerned about Taylor. They’ve had this release date in mind for awhile now, and probably aren’t keen on changing more plans surrounding the era. Plus, they’ve been very clear about milking Dua eras and stretching them out while Taylor eras last no more than a month lately with her rapid release schedule. Plus, I feel like there’s not THAT much overlap between Dua fans and the hardcore Swifties that use all their parents’ credit cards to buy 80 versions. At this point it’s best to just stick to plans considering the mess that’s ensued from shifting them at the beginning of the era. If Dua could make DSN smash while Blinding Lights was also stepping into that sound and smashing harder than ever, I don’t think she necessarily should worry too much about Taylor who isn’t going to touch DL3’s sound on her album.
Digitalism Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Do we know if the extended version is doing numbers?

If DL3 is anywhere near as well received, that alone will do a lot for its numbers and longevity in the US. 1

What does that have to do with saying the US hates her and she has Europe in a chokehold, when looking at those stats show otherwise? What you said doesn’t change that she’s doing better in the US Also.. she’s not american, and the US chart is also full of local artists, remove them and queen is at the top hihi Edited February 21 by -brian

Here in France, she is the only international artist (and ahead of Taylor) in successful singles in recent years. Houdini remains in the top 20 singles filled with local artists (rappers), she is the only international female artist present or at least the most recently.

When the album came out it was basically immediately lauded as THE pop album of the year, even amongst all the competition of Spring 2020 and the peak of COVID. She got good word of mouth and stellar reviews which made the era have legs for awhile even though the singles weren’t mega smashas in the US outside of DSN which had come out nearly half a year before the album at that point. She’s kinda in a similar situation now, given the busy release schedule of Spring 2024, so if she can manage to outshine the other girlies in quality yet again, that’ll do wonders for the era’s good word of mouth.
