jjmed59 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 i feel like im going crazy watching yall lose it over numbers that arent anywhere near a flop? do yall recall how much everyone here made fun of her during future nostalgia's release week?. look at how that ended up. the fact that she had her highest debut this era and some of yall think they wont release the album she could have zero levitatings or DSNs this era and theyll still let her release. she is not debuting to 1-2m streams on her songs anymore. lets please be serious for a moment. 2

If her label stops seeing a return on their investment, then the budget will go down for the next era. If the budget isn't there and she's not getting the best writers and producers in the room with her, then what exactly are we left with? It's all well and good saying you don't care about the charts if we're talking about someone who can put out a project by themselves/with a handful of collaborators, but that's not going to work for a traditional popstar like Dua. You mean the commercial succes she still has? You people keep pretending Houdini peaked at #60 and wasn't able to reach the top 10 in her main markets. Training Season easily Will be yet an other top 10 hit, probably top 5 in various markets. 3

Don't know why people are acting like this is a catastrophic bomb, this is literally the same trajectory for all her singles..? Even Levitating debuted in the 70s on the hot 100. Just relax and wait for the tik tok virality to kick in. I just want her to at least promote the song more, she was EVERYWHERE during FN. That's where she really shines When an artist debuts or try to get their name out there they are constantly performing (this is what I love to do/dream of). But when they get fame or reach a certain point they seem to not have that passion or drive anymore. I agree Dua shines with her vocals and live performances. I would love to see more from her…even if it is a tiny desk concert etc. I hope we get more performance
Ivan_brit Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Get that #1 at the UK!!! Im tired of those #2 or #11 thing that always happens to Dua!! Is she doing promo at the UK this week??? she is currently a the BAFTAs & Graham Norton Show this friday 1
Jonathan Cruz Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Some of y'all are DESPERATE to see homegirl tumble, it's actually funny 2
James_Dean Posted February 18 Posted February 18 The promo this era is odd. Like they are not capitalizing on the timing of things... Not releasing this right after the Grammys was stupid of her father's new management's part. Uploading the performance late to Youtube as well. The mv is a snooze. This song is a major bop but why are things not smashing!?

Miss Harajuku Posted February 18 Posted February 18 uk loves can you please please please come together and organize some kind of buying party for training season to hit #1 2

This is even funnier because when Warner releases their fiscal reports each year, they thank and mention Dua Lipa for the growth in income, since 2019. The other names change every year, from Ed Sheeran to Jack Harlow to Lizzo, but Dua's name has been mentioned every year since 2019. You tried and failed miserably. 10 1
State of Grace. Posted February 18 Posted February 18 She was hungry for success and world domination with Future Nostalgia. She had an insane amount of drive/motivation to win over people and prove that she was here to stay to the point where not even a global pandemic stopped her album campaign. Now I think she feels like she's above hustling as hard and performing on every single stage/talk show on earth, which is fine, but it's also a bit boring for fans. The Brits are the next thing to look forward to I guess then its crickets? Give us another London Sessions for Training Season too at least. 1 2 1

I don't understand why people on this site act like everything is some shady drag towards their fave. It's a forum, we're here to discuss. I like Dua and I love the song. Just because I'm not going "yaaass she ate mother" every time she breathes doesn't mean I'm suddenly a hater 2 1

Just because I'm not going "yaaass she ate mother" every time she breathes doesn't mean I'm suddenly a hater the difference between "ugh, I don't like it" or "where's the promotion?" is big with a "She's not getting investment in this era because she's making her label lose money." 1
liquiddiamonds Posted February 18 Posted February 18 (edited) There’s this ATRL syndrome that you’re only as famous as your latest peak. Dua is clearly still making money. The songs are not connecting with the major public, especially americans, as before, but there’s an audience for them. Houdini is still around and TS had a good start among all versions. People are still checking for her. Her new album will probably beat FN’s Spotify debut without the american market backing it up. That’s impressive She needs to stick to the vision, promo the songs, and if it doesn’t work out move to a new project if a bigger commercial success is desired. If it’s all good, then it’s all good. My complaints are only that we need to extend this same sympathy to other pop girls that are also suffering amidst Swiftmania and changing trends. The market is clearly very different now from two years ago Edited February 18 by liquiddiamonds 2
Kern Posted February 18 Posted February 18 but that user is right and you can see how they thought they ate with this album creating all this hype before Houdini dropped and now the response is pretty underwhelming because the songs doesn't live up to the hype. If the 3rd single is similar then we are not getting that psychedelic album that is totally different from FN and her ROL and the result of this bad marketing will be underwhelming sales 1

They won’t stop investing in her. They signed Dua because they needed to build their female popstar brand that was left for dead after Madonna signed with Interscope. She was guaranteed to be their first priority and she still is. Warner doesn’t have another female artist that has as much potential in the pop market as she does. They know that they can’t afford to stop supporting her

She was never gonna give a Portishead Dummy or Currents type of album that is purely psychdelic, she needs the right balance to be able to be invited onto the radio. People who had different expectations just set themselves up for disappointment (allthough I feel like she’s also partly to blame for saying she was listening to Massive Attack and constantly saying ‘its more psychdelic in interviews) 1

OBEY Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Her tone and vocal delivery on the verses is simply amazing and different from what she's done before 7
Burqa Posted February 18 Posted February 18 this kinda slaps more than the original we deserved the choir and the intro she used for the grammys performance
