Bacardo Royale Posted January 26 Posted January 26 The Edge of Glory Generic for Gaga's standards but it works in the gym
smholiv Posted January 26 Posted January 26 group a Spoiler Lady Gaga - Applause - definitely campy, pretty alright~ Rihanna - Sex with Me - part of me sometimes wishes this had just a bit more energy to it but yeah I like it! SZA - 20 Something - this album is not only a modern classic, it's one of my favourite albums of all time. this is a perfect closer, really summarizes the best parts of her songwriting for me, love it FIFTY FIFTY - Barbie Dreams (feat. Kaliii) - I'm feuding with this soundtrack, very few of the songs fit the "barbie" theme to me and it felt like a lot of missed potential... but this is one of the few exceptions!! I think its super fun and breezy Doja Cat - Kiss Me More (feat. SZA) - this was okay at the time but I like it less and less with age. it's not bad but idk. sza's parts are my faves, might've liked this more if it was more of her Gwen Stefani - Wonderful Life - I've never heard this album in full but maybe I should check it out one day. the bits of new wave influence are really cool but the chorus is really repetitive without a ton of payoff and overall it didn't leave a huge impression on me Taylor Swift - Long Live - this is one of my all time favourite songs of hers and probably in my top 3 for this group. absolute perfection Tove Lo - How Long - it's fine, it's a Tove lo song. it's kind of nice!! Madonna - Vogue - not a fan Marina and the Diamonds - How to Be a Heartbreaker - incredibly shallow and boring, this whole album feels so hollow which some people say is the point but yeah im going to pass Tove Lo - hey you got drugs? - you know what I was kind of pretentious with my last Tove critique but like both of these songs are pretty decent lkjsfslj. I wouldn't generally think to go for a Tove ballad/slower song but idk this works really well. its very much her style solidified and I think its polished in all the right places. My issue with some of this style of music is it can come across a little too perfected, but her delivery and the concepts on this album in particular give it a lot of heart/personality that is missing from some other alt-adjacent girls (see right above). Robyn - Ever Again - this is probably the worst female pop album of all time Disclosure - Help Me Lose My Mind - this album is such a throwback!! I really liked it a while ago and I think it's very indicative of a particular time in electropop's history. this song feels fuelled by nostalgia for me personally but its nice and I like the lounge approach it has (paired with the vocals), this MIGHT be on the lower end of my top ten but I did like it! Ava Max - Dancing's Done - you know what she set out to do a pure dance disco album without pretence and she accomplished that right to the end and I respect it. this bangs Clean Bandit - Symphony - not a song I would listen to of my own accord by any means but its okay M.I.A. - Come Around (feat. Timbaland) - it's cool but won't be getting points from me based on its competition this round. I like that you sent something kind of different though~ Lady Gaga - The Edge of Glory - I like this less than Applause Charli XCX - Track 10 - ohhh the intricacies... this feels like such a crazy experience and I love all of it tbh, such a cool song Aaliyah - Rock the Boat - MEGA classic, incredible work
