Jjang Posted January 20 Posted January 20 No. I feel like she'll remain a "MPG" for a while because of how devoted her fan base is. She might not be leading the pack anymore but she's still somewhat of a contemporary force I guess. I think her priorities are different now - she's found her niche in working and promoting a movie every 1/2 years while performing Jazz at the comfort of Vegas. Anything else is probably just contractual obligations (pop music, music videos, tours, era promotions, etc.) and a conscious effort to keep her fan base intact. 5
Karla Cabello Posted January 20 Posted January 20 yes, but i think it is mostly bc she doesnt give af anymore. even katy seems more interested in making music
Popular Post Cyanide Posted January 20 Popular Post Posted January 20 I often feel like a lot of the hate Gaga gets on here is from disgruntled ex fans that aren’t happy with the direction she took at some point in her career. Do you know how insane and delusional you would look if you tried to argue in real life that one of the biggest stars on the planet for 15+ years is irrelevant and unknown? Lmfao 12 7
MadMax12 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) Her career would have had more longevity if she extended her debut album with ‘Boys Boys Boys’ as the last single, made ‘Monster’ her sophomore in mid 2010 with a few added tracks so it wasn’t an EP, BR and Telephone being #1s at a better time, then Alejandro and Monster being top 5 hits. Then released BTW lead single in late 2011, second single TEOG in 2012 another #1, then Judas, Sheisse and Hair as more top 10’s. Then fourth album ARTPOP Venus, Gypsy, DWUW, Applause and ARTPOP as singles in 2013-2014 with high budget music videos. More top 10 singles and album sales. Then Joanne in 2016-2017 with Dancin in Circles, Million Reasons, Diamond Heart, Sinners Prayer and Angel Down as singles. All top 10/20 singles and more album sales. Then making ARUTW a single in 2019 after Shallow, another diamond classic. Then in 2020, make Replay, ROM, Sour Candy and Babylon singles with high budget music videos, more top 10/20 hits and album sales Edited January 20 by MadMax12 1 1
Frappucino Posted January 20 Posted January 20 There is no MPG except for Taylor at the moment unfortunately, we’re not in that “golden era” back then where there was more competition, and that’s more due to the GP and how COVID affected the market. So tbh inciting stan wars is pointless unless we get all the girls back in the charts. Hopefully Ari can be that beacon of light, that Is It Over Now? song will be hitting differently afterwards

Joyride Posted January 20 Posted January 20 the three biggest stars of the 2010's (Rihanna, Katy and Gaga) are currently retired, MIA, but their status is still untouched. all the new girls are heavily influenced by them. they're still MPG, just not "current". 1 1

Lmfao it’s interesting how this seems to only apply to Gaga but not other actually more relevant and important pop stars that her majorly obsessed stans are always trying to bring down OT: yes and it’s her fans to blame 2

Older millennials and her fanatic **** will still check her **** out but she's wasted all her artistic potential for quick cash grabs and boring films Yeah, she definitely lost her cool factor. There’s no misters around her. She’s very predictable and safe but hey that’s what you do when you want awards and hollyweird’s validation. 1 1
SharGaga Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) People who are obsessed with other pop girlies success (because they don't have their own) have been saying this since 2013. So the real question is why are we still asking this 11 years later? She hasn't released new music in 4 years and that era was short-lived due to covid. Shouldn't we wait for a new era with music she actually wants to make this time before making an assessment? I don't think that anyone that actually focuses on their own achievements is losing any sleep over whether Gaga is a MPG or not. Living vicariously through another person's success instead of creating your own is sick but whatever floats your boat I guess. At the very least you're wasting time to do something more productive. We all create distractions to get through the day sometimes. I guess this is ATRL in a nutshell for you. Edited January 22 by SharGaga 2

JanStan Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) MPG status is so beneath her. Like .. isn’t that for noobs whose fame is dependent on tik tok? Edited January 22 by JanStan
dumbsparce Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) No she hasn't. She's still a MehPG Edited January 23 by dumbsparce 1
AMIT Posted January 23 Posted January 23 why is this in Celebria and marked as ''celeb news''? but anyways, that is not even a real tangible term, like let's be for real, Gaga's career is just fine. She's still going and is no has been.
spree Posted January 23 Posted January 23 no you don't lose that status once you have it. isn't she releasing a Joker lead single or something at the end of this year?

This is interesting to me because, as a fan since Just Dance, I don’t remember a time where Gaga was “cool” to like in the same way someone like Rihanna was/is. She was hated by publications like p4k, and she was unabashedly up front about her intentions to make commercial music as a means to become famous. That turned a lot of people off on both sides. Imo, she’s always appealed to niche sensibilities and just struck gold when the time was right. She just had the foresight to see that dance pop would eventually dominate the charts and went with it Edited January 23 by slayyyterslut
