Justin Timberlake - 'Everything I Thought It Was'

It being 18 tracks long, having a few fillers and same sounding **** does the album no favors indeed BUT the bangers are banging. The productions are crisp, fun and meticulous. It's not too experimental per se, it's his usual melodies against a much harder electronic sound canvas but it really works.  If a girl made this album, most of the forum would be going feral.

literally

the highs of this album are giving male future nostalgia but instead people want to discount bc he is a male and its cool to dislike him right now.

Very true, too long for no reason. With 12 songs that would have been SO much better.

honestly the only issue here is the length which is something he has always struggled with tbh. even when his albums were like 10 songs, we never needed a bunch of 8 minute songs bc it always did more harm than good tbh

if he made the album something similar to this i feel like it would be a hit and better received. like you cant tell me the below would not be comparable to a male Future Nostalgia. bops back after back w/ crisp production, good hooks, strong vocals and without the fluff it would all come together better

1. Fuckin' Up The Disco

2. No Angels

3. Drown

4. Selfish

5. Imagination

6. My Favorite Drug

7. Paradise (feat. *NSYNC)

8. Sanctified (feat. Tobe Nwigwe)

9. What Lovers Do

10. Love & War

11. Flame

12. Technicolor

******* up the disco 🕺🏻 on my first play track 2

The album is not bad at all. It’s definitely a good mix of FS/LS and 20/20

yeah if you trim down the album, you get a decent piece of work

but it's still as inconsistent as 'Man of the Woods'. I would even say MOTW has bigger highs than this one.

Technicolor deserves all the praise. Now that’s what I’m talking about:jonny6:

I was bored for the first 5 songs and wasn't sure I even wanted to finish the album. I'm glad I did because it gets a LOT better.

Exactly, I randomly clicked someone who wrote the review on the guardian and she gave high praise to the women in me:ducky:

I mean he hasn’t dropped an album in 6 years and unfortunately his mistreatment of women during the height of his career has been the only relevant news piece about him since then.

So naturally, all of these reviews are doing a recap to make sense of the album. The Guardian review does in fact go into album details if you kept reading.

I just don’t think any of the reviews missed a mark about what this album is.

Crying hearing *Nsync :weeps:

and so glad they chose this type of nostalgic sounding song instead of trying to jump on a hyperpop mess beat. So good. End of the album is a lot better on 2nd listen. Yeah this definitely better then man of the woods

King looks good. King sounds good :clap3:

Nothing tops Selfish but it's decent overall

he wasted all that video budget on 'No Angel' and the video is barely scratching 100k views after 8 hours :deadbanana: the geepee said no

it's a shame it's actually the best video this era

F kin up the Disco COULD have been the smash of the album if he would keep it more simple

A proper club banger , very current but he is adding some classic JT parts that are bringing down the entire vibe
