Gorjesspazze9 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Yeah the Memphis opening sounds like a bad Bieber attempt. **** up the disco should have been the opening. 1
rta1913 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Oh wow, he lost all his edge. Is it particularly a bad album? Not really, but it's not good either. It's there. First of all, too long. I admire the commitment to give us full songs and not tiktok interludes but he should've trimmed the fat a bit. It drags too long. The opener, whew horrible, almost makes me not to want to listen to it. Even the bops are a bit undercooked, with no "hit" factor. In some of the pop songs it seems like he tried to match CSTF with his FS/LS sound and it does not work. The lyrics are not good and his voice was off putting in some of the songs, I don't know if it was the mixing or the production. On first listen I only like Fuckin' up the Disco, Drown and Sanctified. I will give it another listen and see if anything grows on me but very underwhelming first listen. 1
Dark Miracles Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Mirrors passing 1 billion almost on the day his new album drops 1
UnusualBoy Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Wait, didn't know this was dropping today lol. Let me catch up.

Part 1 was already sooo long and hard to stomach, but it was great. He should have come up with a different album concept a few years later. He was doing so well up until that point and was heading into prince of pop direction. Then it all fell apart. And now his older songs don't work very well in the streaming age because they are so long. It's a pity

UnusualBoy Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I'm on track #8. And the album is not bad but sounds very repetitive, I've liked all the tracks but somehow I cannot remember what they sound like if that makes sense I feel like its main problem will also be the length, 18 tracks is a lot.
Scandalous Posted March 15 Posted March 15 (edited) 18 tracks is definitely a lot to get through and idk when i will get to the whole thing since im stuck on kacey’s but im definitely interested in giving this a listen soon was revisiting masterpiece 20/20 yesterday it is a bloated length but tbh if my fav regularly took 5-6 years between albums i’d want a long one too. I just feel like most JT fans are more casual listeners Edited March 15 by Scandalous
djcalpal Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Rolling Stone ate him UP. 'You can call Timberlake a lot of things, but never a mediocre performer or an insignificant figure in pop history. Not only does he have the hits to prove it, now he also has an entire album of songs that feel like B-sides to make an ironic case for his once-gilded greatness.'
The Man Who Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I can’t remember who said it, but somebody compared some of the songs on the album to Imagine Dragons and I’ve just skipped through the album now and none of them remind me of them? Am I missing something?

I may get why someone may find the first tracks, Infinite Sex and Love War offputting. No Angels, Technicolor and Drown are the standouts of the first half. Everything from Sanctified till the end is a hit with no miss at all. Yeah the way the critics dropped him is very transparent. Even Camila Cabello gets scores in the 75s or something like that lol

Mtjjproducer Posted March 15 Posted March 15 This album is overhated because they don’t like him personally nothing to do with the music. the only bad song is the first song which I was angry with cause it’s the first song produced by danja I don’t like. they rest of the album is solid. Was little let down by the nsync song was hoping for something with more energy. Is it a bit long yeah but if I don’t like a song I delete it and pretend it never was on there. W 2

Ruthless Anyway, I just finished the whole thing and it's actually a good album but way too long. I could've done without the last 2 tracks and maybe Memphis but overall I like it. On first listen Technicolor - Selfish - Love & War - My Fave Drugs are my faves.

I think because each track is like 5 mins long and usually split into 2 different parts with different soundscape. "Technicolor", for example, is 2 songs combined in one
yonsé Posted March 15 Posted March 15 where are the melodies? where are the hooks? selfish being the standout track is WILD to me. can he branch out and stop working with timbaland and danja? its old. he's rehashing old sounds. it sounds like futuresex & 20/20, but with less kick and less good hooks.
Gottasadae Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Remember, 'member, 'member when you said, you'd love me 'til I die, love me, love me 'til I die? Yeah, what the f*ck? This bridge snapped so hard, especially when you somehow can relate
