Like why did Olivia Rodrigo need 15 variants for Guts and on top of that make each vinyl with a bonus song to which if you wanted all the songs you had to buy every variant. Now that's trashy 2

I actually don't care how many versions she's releases, I believe an artist should do everything possible to be successful. My problem is with stans being huge hypocrites and just finding a problem when certain artists do it. This tea. Obviously this is the new release strategy and it’s crazy how ATRL is always telling the GP to get with the times, but they still drag artists who do this when…this is the times. I really couldn’t care less how many versions of the song Ariana releases because I’m not going to listen to either of them, but her stans trying to act as if people are just unfairly picking on her and trying to act as if she’s unfairly being criticized is crazy. Her fanbase has been more INSUFFERABLE and self victimizing than usual lately It’s the fact taylor released a fraction and you remained on her *** for weeks, but expect to not get dragged when your fave releases 8? be serious I did listen to the extended version earlier when my friend came over and the intro was cute they should’ve just released that as the main version. Ascareus Kratos Posted January 19 Posted January 19 If taylor releases 8 version, pretty sure she will get 88 hate comments version here 1
Dr. Alexander Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Hey, if we go back to CDs, cassettes, and iTunes, I’m all for it.
Jack! Posted January 19 Posted January 19 It's interesting because to take the context of the tweet in the OP, an 8-track single is doing the opposite of collapsing the streaming era, rather giving credence to alternative versions of tracks like a cappella versions, instrumental versions etc. that would have previously been mass consumed illegally via YouTube rips and third party downloads. There is a lot of problems with the streaming era, sure. But having a stable platform that allows credible artists to gate-keep the monetary value in their work is actually a positive. 1
Maroonx Posted January 19 Posted January 19 some of you guys need to find better things to care about... 1
Badgalbriel Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Imagine having 8 versions of your single and still pulling 260 points though..... 1 3

In fact, there are other artists putting one different extra song in every variant, which is more extreme than just putting a few numbers on the back cover that create a clock. Extreme? First of all Ms Swift looks musty on all multiple covers, especially on those cheap tragic 1989 covers where she looks like she smells like wet dog, so idk why she think selling her photo is anything worth purchasing. second, say her name. OLIVIA is adding value to the vinyl variants, I would much rather have exclusive bonus tracks that makes it worth purchasing over an alternate cover. 1 2 1 6

grwntify Posted January 20 Posted January 20 She didn't need all those versions to go #1. So.. idc :P
Jeremiah Posted January 20 Posted January 20 What I think the tweet referred to is that it’s ridiculous to label it a “single” when it has 8 tracks and is 30 minutes long. That’s closer to a LP. Watch it chart in the Billboard 200 instead 1
Bosque Posted January 20 Posted January 20 That tweet doesn’t make any sense, even if she released 600 versions how would it lead to the “collapse of the streaming model”? Twitter users will really say the utmost for attention
Mel. Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Billboard really needs to do something about this desperation and chart manipulation.

We used to be a proper country. 2

You never miss an opportunity to paint Taylor as a victim 3 1 1
Nashe Posted January 20 Posted January 20 no idea what this means, I grew up in the early 2000s when CD singles had 5 versions of the same track also as an Ariana fan I'm beyond thrilled to have all these versions legally in one place on streaming. more content = happier me
rac7d Posted January 20 Posted January 20 5 hours ago, Bonicap said: What a weird tweet. The streaming model will collapse when/if a better alternative appears, not because an A List artist drops a few remixes. And Ariana is competing to top the charts, a perfectly legal and moral thing that a lot of artists do. It's their job and they have every right to use all the tools at their disposal. How many is a few?
