Rare Beauty

2023 Estimated Retail Sales: $600 million

2024 Forecast Retail Sales: $750 million

Like I said, 2024 is the year of the makeup deal and there is no brand that shines brighter than Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty. Revenue for the line reached $300 million last year, up approximately 50 percent from 2022, and is highly profitable. Multiple sources have said Rare is “flirting” with options, though the brand itself has stayed quiet. While Rare Beauty has yet to engage with a banker, buyers have been knocking down the brand’s door despite its association with a celebrity. Most sources say the products are so good and the line has such a high repurchase rate, it has traversed Gomez’s initial appeal. When a line gets this big independently, an IPO is often the next step and some have floated that could happen in 2025. But given the way that public markets have treated consumer brands (The Honest Company, Casper, etc.) a sale is likely a safer bet. Still, whoever buys the line has to have deep pockets; they’re looking at a $2 billion plus price tag.

It is funny how she was never known for her makeup and yet she managed to outdo brands by Gaga (even though hers wasn't distributed in Sephoras) and Rihanna

The power of good products :clap3:

mhmmm gaga's is at Sephora... and considering Fenty Beauty did not release much this year unlike rare beauty, makes sense tbh

Rare Beauty outsold both Fenty as well as REM Beauty she has the most Instagram followers out of everyone not to mention her appearance at the VMAs this year carried the viewerships

I am not into Selena Gomez at all but good god this brand is good. Have genuinely loved every product I've tried! Recently got the under eye brightener and it's a miracle product for me. Not at all surprised to see it doing so well.

What a puff piece by a PR outlet.

They are offering Gomez's brand for sale actually means they don't want it. And that in turn suggests it's not doing well at all, despite pretences. And that they want to offload it to someone else. On the other hand nobody is offering Fenty for sale. Neither Rih nor 50% partner Louis Vuitton.

Bloomberg (an infinitely more credible business news source than "fashion news" or whatever that OP source blog was) has already credited Rihanna as being the standard setter celebrity makeup brand — valued at $4 billion.

And Bloomberg also acknowledges how Rih is the one (along with Kim-K) who made it a hot trend as their timeline shows:

This magnificent timeline also shows that the trend has perhaps ended: 2023 has actually shown a decline of the celebrity makeup brand hype. Virtually no new ones have been established and most the existing ones are struggling... perhaps due to oversaturation of the market w/ too many brands. And evidently the struggling ones includes Gomez's brand... hence they are advertising it for sale.

the article explain the brand seems to work because of the quality, not only for selena gomez being linked to it. One of the biggest doubt investors have about these celebrity brands its people could lose interest when the relevance of the face star of them ends.

So make sense to sell now it's stong, people have interest in it to take the money now has a peak value. And you can sell it easily now cause data say to buyers in the market they can make in the future the brand into something is more than Selena Gomez.

This is by Bloomberg too, then what? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-07-20/how-selena-gomez-built-rare-beauty-into-tiktok-s-favorite-brand

They were the ones who first reported the estimated 300 million revenue for 2023

I don't think it's bigger than Fenty yet, but this is for sure doing great

Regardless of what you think of her, Rare Beauty has legit great products. It's by far the best celebrity beauty brand alongside Fenty

Can't you read or do you always lazily jump into threads without reading and then get (inevitably) confused and respond aggressively?

Here's the OP-provided source of this thread in children's size just for you:

The brand has good reviews.  She was truly committed to maintaining the quality of her brand, unlike Gaga and Ariana, who struggled with managing theirs

You truly think she has her hands on the production and quality of the products? :rip:
