Lots of gay porn stars act masculine in the videos even during their speech/ talk only scenes but when you check the interviews it's different. Just a recent example I saw hours ago but I did not save the link. I mean, just google "vintage gay porn" and you probably see a difference compared to today's porn stars, and I mean not just in the lack of diversity, but otherwise too. They looked more like "normal" guys back then, if that makes sense. There was less twinks/fems in those vintage videos. I know a lot of them were doing it just for money obvi. And they still are, but now everyone's just doing OF. So the line between porn star and content creator/influencer is getting blurry. But anyway, I don't like those kind of surveys like in the OP, because I don't think discreet/closeted gay men would partake in them and basically out themselves. They are usually the kind of queer men who can blend in with the other society more. And idk where they even find the people to these studies. 1

It’s almost as if maybe they were destined to sprout as females in the womb but somehow last minute mother nature had a change of plans but some of the early seeds still stuck, hence attraction towards males and feminine traits even if they were the most manliest males in the community. I’m honestly curious about what factors contribute to the gay voice. Being around women? Since we cling to women more do we lean towards more inflections? Something biological? Like I’m so interested.

Weld_E Posted January 18 Posted January 18 If anyone is interested, this is a decent documentary on the subject matter that touches upon why gays sound the way they do:

No single case destroys the argument Its obviously a biology related behavior weather a gene or something pregnancy/hormone related why wouldnt it be? 1
Goaty Posted January 18 Posted January 18 ddd I just spent twenty minutes listening to voice notes I've sent recently to see if I think I "sound gay." I definitely think had I not grown up in such a homophobic, masculine-pressured home environment my voice would be much different than it is today. So I wonder to what extent "gay voice" is the gay default and any gay men that deviate from it do so due to external pressures versus inherent characteristics of their own voices.

Lack of success doesn’t make the stigma, self-hate, and fear go away. These celebs are taught to hate themselves because they are gay and heavily encouraged to stay in the closet. Taylor literally partied with Bryan Singer. We have years of evidence of him hanging around top gay industry execs and going to gay clubs/bars. He was always just as obvious as David Archuleta to me. Tylerbv Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Is it just me or is this not that impressive? They had a 50/50 chance so 62% isn’t really notable if even one of the eight was extraordinarily obvious 2

But what if people in general are genetically more sexually fluid than what has been thought previously? Ofc you can have preferences that come from genetics and epigenetics. And it makes evolutionary sense that most people are attracted to the opposite sex. But if gender can be spectrum then why not sexuality as well? I feel like we are only beginning to understand these things. And I think women are far ahead of men when it comes to this kind of sexual/romantic liberation, but I hope men will catch up soon enough. It's sad to see or hear stories about guys struggling with their sexuality still in 2024. And that's just because someone's told them that being gay is wrong. We can't be truly free as people until homophobia and transphobia have been erased from the world. 2

I think being "born" gay or straight might be an oversimplification of what's really going on. Like, if you see my post right above this one, I was thinking about what if human sexuality is a spectrum, kind of like gender. There could be some genetic thing that makes people prefer either the feminine or masculine form, but it might not be just one gene that either is in you or is not. And you've probably noticed that the type of people you are attracted to changes with age, right? So, the gender you are attracted to might be the same always, but you start to like something a little different within that gender. I hope that makes some sense, lol. And if you've ever had girl crush, as a gay male, that would be normal too.

Twixters Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I don’t care what anyone says there is some genetic reasoning for this. It happens across all Cultures and demographics of gay men. I remember I took a biology class. She told me they had started to recognize some genetic markers for possibilities of homosexuality (it was in flies I think) she said though they would probably never publicate it though cause the backlash and possible genocide. Imagine if people could find out their child had a gay gene or they were a carrier? Could be chaotic. Especially with all the religious nut cases. 1 1

It is definitely biological and I say that because there are sooooo many gay men that have naturally feminine faces as well, to the point where no vocal output is needed to tell they are. I’ve notices that so many times, even if they grow beards they still have a very gay face. 3
cOe Posted January 18 Posted January 18 To me it only works one way. If somebody has a gay voice, he's gay 90% of the time But like half of gays are completely straight-passing from my experience
