Maybe controversy in Chromatica.

This is what happens when an ATRLer and chronic Twitter troll are allowed to make music.

He was getting dragged pretty bad for it tbh. I feel like it's actually mature to apologize, like he said he can act unfazed and unbothered but that's just not the case. It's not 2011 anymore, like Gaga got away with it with Judas but it's diff now, you have to apologize and own your sh*t these days, people demand transparency from celebrities and rightfully so.

There's a weird thing going on with LNX and the amount of self hate gays are projecting on to him (Not saying you're doing that OP -- just stating in general) or maybe this is just his backlash MPG era but the people on the sidelines cheering and jumping up and down with glee at a MAINSTREAM MALE GAY POP STAR's downfall is so bizarre to me. Don't be fooled girlies, yes it's 2024 but bigotry and homophobia is real and alive.

The response should have been no surprise to him, especially since it was bound to get the attention he was looking for, which just makes his apology all the more questionable. Like, what exactly did he think the response was going to be? It was just a misfire all the way around, up to and including his apology. Even "Judas" had an actual meaning behind it, though, with Gaga being on incredibly super thin ice with the fine line she was walking. What she did wasn't a straight up blasphemous meme, which separates that from this. Same thing with how these themes have been handled before in the past, compared to what Lil Nas X did.

Again, I was one who was personally rooting for him—but it's incredibly hard to when he's pulling antics like this. To the point where I have pulled back my support of him. It's great to have a personality and express yourself, but he's doing it in a way that's just detrimental, in my opinion, to the way gays are perceived as being. Bigotry and homophobia are very much still alive, in which they use examples such as this to justify. Lil Nas X doesn't represent me, nor do I want or need him to.

I'm not gonna badger him if he's genuinely sorry. I'm not a fan of his but I don't think this controversy will permanently hurt his career. I think he can still snag a few hits this era if he plays his cards right. Just avoid controversy. Let the music speak for itself.

The thing is the same trick rarely works twice

Maybe he should’ve given a f*ck about what Madonna did so he’d learn how to milk a gimmick with grace and success.

The way this was designed in some kind of record label marketing meeting to cause controversy is so cringe.

And then to move forward with the pre-planned apology video even though there wasn't any outrage or controversy.

I almost feel bad for him.

I have a feeling this 'apology' is also a gimmick in a way :rip: You never know with him

I feel the same, but entertainment people in the comments who probably know him are responding seriously too which is tripping me out :deadbanana2:

No one really cares about this song anyways  :deadbanana2:

Lightning never strikes the same place twice. Him trying to remake call me by your name was a flop ass move. You keep innovating not recreating.

Am I the only one thinking this is also a stunt? Even if the song's flopping, he's keeping his name out there which is publicity at the end of the day.

Someone FINALLY said it. Chile, after Spotify made that tweet saying:

“Lil Nas X just released another Mid song”

It sounded too much like his tone and too on brand lmao. I could see him purposely create his own smear campaign for the sake of controversy lol.

I’ve never been a Lil Nas X fan. Never really liked his music other than the song he released with Doja. But y’all really switch up so fast :deadbanana2:

Y’all were livinggg for Call Me By Your Name like no other, and that was arguably just as bad :gaycat6: and a lot weirder.
I lowkey wanna see how this plays out tho. Tbh he def did not need to apologize lmao, but just like most artists, he was bound to be in his “upset everybody” era.

Literally no one cared though, since his bait flopped. He should've just pretended it didn't happen, and moved on to the new droplet.

Oh this just makes me smile. He bragged about surpassing Taylor back in 2019 as if he would EVER be her competition to any capacity (or anyone's in the music industry for that matter.)

For a chronic online Stan he sure hasn't realized that the music industry is harsh and success is incredibly hard to keep up. We live in an era where artists come and ago quickly as shiny toys but once their sophomore eras come nobody gaf. Look at Camila Cabello who had a huge first era and now she is clinging to Shawn Mendes' gay ass lips for attention. Shawn Mendes himself has become a flop. Cardi B hasn't generated worldwide hype like she used to back in Bodak Yellow days. Olivia Rodrigo is already seeing mediocre numbers for her sophomore album. People get bored of the same gimmicks from artists releasing the same crap and over and over again and he's not an exception. I can say with confidence his one-hit wonderness got to his big ass head and now he has an ego the size of a lake. That's why he's so pathetically desperate now. LOL. He's a has-been and needs to accept that he will never be an established artist in the music industry. Should've stuck to online 'influencing' babe.

I haven't heard a single thing about this song, let alone the song itself so what controversy is he talking about?
