superben
Billboard, so this is in the US. I guess the percentage would be a little bit lower counting WW as some K-pop acts have crazy album sales.

Lemon
People only caring for pure sales when it comes to artists they don’t like because said artists are also big streamers, would be faced with even bigger shock in Taylor’s case.

There's like around 10 k-pop groups with good sales (1M+ average per album) and some Japanese artists selling substantially well, but then album sales are pretty much non-existent in other countries. Cruel Summer
Interestingly, Billboard posted an article just now indicating that she was 1.79% of all consumption across all metrics. That compared to this number shows that even in the biggest year anyone has had in the Luminate era, even at the peak of her career a decade after the streaming era started to take over, and even as she’s been the #1 most-streamed artist in the world for most days out of the whole year - she’s still significantly stronger in pure sales than anything else, relatively speaking. That’s pretty incredible as a testament to her help in keeping pure sales alive. The vinyl numbers also clearly show that she’s been a massive force in the resurgence of that entire format, and the CD numbers make it clear that she’s the last line of defense for that format. Speaking in a strictly commercial sense, this might be the most consequential any individual artist has ever been for the industry as the lifeline of entire recording formats. 3
