Carry My Heart Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Politico: EU begs Taylor Swift to get out the youth vote Superstar singer will be in Europe ahead of the bloc’s election in June. Quote European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas has a solution to boost young voter turnout at this year’s European election, and it’s a bejeweled one. The EU just needs a special shoutout from Taylor Swift herself. Quote “No one can mobilize youth better than young people,” Schinas said Wednesday during a press conference. “It’s young people who can mobilize young people to participate, more than commissioners.” And who better suited for the task than Time Magazine’s Person of the Year? Quote “I very much hope that someone from her media team follows this press conference and relays our request to her,” Schinas said.
Gelato Posted January 10 Posted January 10 not even this will make anyone care about EU Parliament elections 1 3
WEEKND Posted January 10 Posted January 10 The moment she does something like that people will turn on her 2 1
PoisonedIvy Posted January 10 Posted January 10 But does she have a neon orange wig? If not then she still has no impact I fear 2 2
Duanielipa Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I wonder what party she would support? Greens, Communists, Socialists or Centrists/Liberals?
Pendulum Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) The EU Parliament elections are so... flawed to the point where the EU is basically Germany/France controlling the whole thing. Edited January 10 by Pendulum 2 1 1
Mr.X Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Scrapping the barrel of political moves, damn... The EU needs to be abolished anyway. It's well past the time we stop our money going to funnel genocidal and neo-liberal maniacs. 1 4

byzantium Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Shouldn’t they be appealing to “global” artists and not some local girl? Does anyone even know her on the European subcontinent? 2 1
305 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 This is what real power and impact looks like folks. Political leaders have been at her feet since The Eras Tour went on sale 2

She is absolutely irrelevant in the whole continent, except the few countries where she is currently the most streamed international artist: Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and UK. In the rest she is 2nd or 3rd, pathetic. 1 10
LadyDiana Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Does anyone really reads these days? They want her to just say "go out and vote" not to support specific party. I think that could be a good thing. Cuz old, conservative, mean people do vote and shape our future! 1

The locals don’t know her. @ me when she is the best selling artist of all time in Moldova. 1
Velvet Night Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Actually not the worst EU idea. Taylor managed to get a lot of people in the USA to register to vote. I think it’d work here too. At least the EU isn’t paying for a party in the Metaverse again.
