sexyback007 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 It’s an insane situation, I was at the office and we basically dropped everything we were doing and left. Luckily I’m safe at home with my family and it’s a gated community so we feel some sense of security, but it’s not like that for everyone and the streets are basically a nightmare, lots of people I know are still stuck in traffic and scared out of their minds with what we’re living. Let’s hope this is rock bottom and violence finally stops, please send us your best wishes! 7

Such scary videos to watch. Terrorists around the world are getting way too bold in the last two years.

Sure we can blame users of recreational drugs instead of pushing governments to incorporate actual proven systems in which purchasing and possessing drugs up to a certain amount is allowed. And if you're a repeat offender of the actual few drugs that kill, then you get rehab instead of jail. Imagine that, a functioning society and government not looking to profit off confiscated drug money and making innocent user lives hell. It's obvious dictating what people are allowed to buy and possess in order to put in their body was never the solution and is a mindset that belongs in the dark ages. Drugs should be sold and taxed like alcohol and cigarettes, if it was not a black market there would be no overt correlation to violent criminals any more than alcohol or cigs would have. I'm not saying any of this is easily double in still developing countries that have a million other priorities and things to sort, but blaming the users of a developing country where a lot of poorer people might do drugs to escape harsh realities? not the tea. Anyway, no excuses for anybody wishing to inflict unprovoked violence on innocent people they don't know, it'll always be the most heinous thing a human can do. The world is remembering, hope it'll be turn out ok soon and no one gets hurt. 2

I made the mistake of watching the videos and it gave me so much anxiety I can only imagine what you’ll are going thru over there.
getBusy Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I just found out about the situation on TikTok - this all started because a drug lord escaped from prison? This century is just too much for me
AvadaKedavra Posted January 10 Posted January 10 3 hours ago, flower moon said: why though? Took this from reddit explaining the situation. Ecuador became a focal point in the worldwide narcotics distribution network. Slowly, over the last 17 years. Due to its increasingly corrupt leadership (specially from rafael correa), advantageous geographical situation, and easy access. We have universal citizenship here. Basically anyone can come without a visa. All international mafia groups have a foothold here. We refuel drug shipping overseas, and we transport colombian mechandise with ease. Hundreds of tons per year. Everyone is in. Military leadership, police leadership, political leadership. Multiple competing local gangs allied with international cartels and prospered. They each carved themselves a piece of the pie. But as a cauldron about to boil, **** has to hit the fan somewhere, sometime. I just came home and picked up basically all my close family and we are holed up at my family house waiting for this to blow over. Massive military and police response in the streets. I hope against hope that this time, they man up and clean the streets of all the scum that has plagued us. Pray for us ecuadorians. 3
Taste of Honey Posted January 10 Posted January 10 So sad to see how insecurity has spiraled out of control in Ecuador over the years.
