New York City vs. London, more recommended for visiting?

Never been to either of them and I'm planning to visit next month in February to take advantage of my sudden vacation eligibility at work! Which city is prettier/offer more? I'll be staying for around 2 weeks.

Only been to London and tbh I enjoyed other European cities much more.. so I would pick NYC for sure

Live in London. Visited New York several times. Tbh, I would not visit either of them in February, but if you are determined to do it in February, then I'd probably say New York. London will be eternally cloudy, everything will be gray and miserable - all the landmarks will look boring. In New York you can at least get some sun and enjoy the views if you don't mind the cold. But in general, both cities are great to visit - London is full of history and New York is just super iconic.

Both are worth visiting. But because I live in London I know how many great things you can do here so I’f say London would be more enjoyable besides the weather, February usually brings some kind of beast from the east! :gayriahcat2:

London. You’ll need a bullet proof vest if you go to NY.

I visited London back in May and I absolutely adored it. I’ve never been to New York so can’t really compare them, but London is my fav European city I’ve visited so far.

I’m going back there in August for The Eras Tour :bird:

I would choose London. NYC is terrifying me and giving me anxiety and panic attacks. Too overcrowded, too criminal. My friend was just recording little 10 minutes vlog while walking in NYC and for these 10 minutes she caught 3 criminal cases at the streets with cops involved

New York is only successful if done right. Avoid midtown at ALL costs. Stay in the Upper West Side near the Park and Columbus or downtown (in the village, tribeca, soho, even fidi) . Most tourists make the horrendous mistake of doing the “touristy” things like Times Square (hell on earth), Empire State Building (waste of time in awful midtown) and Broadway Shows (easy to get ripped off). The city has so many beautfiul neighborhoods and things to offer but it literally changes every 10 blocks so location can be detrimental.

New York. Nothing like it. The architecture, culture, the entire vibe is iconic. London is very boring. Anyone saying NYC is scary seriously needs to get out more.

Go to New York. Get some SUN.

I live in the tropics so February cool air is a good change for me.

I live in London so I’m biased. Things i love about my city:

- lots of Free Museums and galleries

- the tube and buses and ease of access when using google maps/city mapper

- all the plays and musicals

- all the restaurants, pubs, and bars

- lots of big green parks

- architecture and history

- walkability and easy to navigate

I love to visit New York though, love all the skyscrapers which we don’t really have a lot of in London

New York easily. London is nice but overrated.

It makes me laugh when people say London is boring when there's literally so much to do, as you've said. The only valid criticism in this thread is the gloomy weather.

I’ve only been to NYC but it was filthy and claustrophobic, so I’d say London. As an ancient city there’s lot more history there too if you’re into that.

I live in New York and have visited London many many times and lived there for 3 months, both cities are the two best in the world, you can’t go wrong with either.

New York is much more lively, they call it the city that never sleeps for a reason. I believe the restaurants are better here but it is much much dirtier than London. For people talking about crime, you just have to be smart and you’ll be totally fine. It’s not rampant, and if you at least act like you know what you’re doing and don’t look lost, nothing will happen. (also the on top of that, the only place I’ve ever been robbed is London lmao).

London has the nicer people, the nicer public transport, and the better things to do in my opinion. The BEST shopping in the world, their museums are amazing and free, and the city is truly truly beautiful. And it does quiet down at night unlike NY, if that’s something you like.

Both cities are the best, but they are also both the most expensive places in the world, so take that into account as well.

Born and raised New Yorker here  Go to London. New York is ugly, dirty, and unsafe. It lost all identity and character in the last 20 years.
