Konril Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Wow at the Sing Sing recognition. Is A24 promoting this movie? It had the buzz early this year but kinda died down.
kandicha Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Oh wow, Sing Sing is sweeping! I thought they would spread the love between more films but they just really loved Sing Sing I guess. I especially hope Clarence Maclin can win Best Supporting Actor 1

Hector Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I guess A Different Man is a stronger picture contender than I thought though it has felt almost as lowkey as Sing Sing theatrically. It's kept up the buzz since the early film festival run last Winter.
kandicha Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 A Different Man winning is a surprise but a pleasant one I still need to watch it but I would love if Adam Pearson won something on this awards trail
fridayteenage Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 well gotham last year chose past lives, the unknown country, May December for top prizes so are not really a precursor per se
hausofdave Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I noticed Rajendra Roy was on the jury for Best Picture and he's been a big proponent of A Different Man all year - it was opening night of New Directors New Films, the festival he co runs
hausofdave Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Last year's winner was Hoyte Van Hoytema went on to win the Oscar. Jomo Fray would be the first-ever black Oscar winner for Best Cinematography.
Donquizote Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Marianne just won NYFCC NYFCC curse for Best Actress continues
hausofdave Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I would give Culkin the longest sentence for fraud if I was the judge 1 2
Donquizote Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 NYFCC decided not to take side in BSA category and awarded Carol Kane for BSA Last time they did this during Close vs Gaga vs Colman
hausofdave Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Thought they might do Qualley or something. Guess this is their out of the box pick
EnigmaticAndroid Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Carol Kane? I love the fact that they truly dgaf and will award whoever they want, irregardless of what's expected of them or who is in the race. 2
Hector Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Marianne Jean-Baptiste is an excellent pick for actress. Needs to get the Oscar nomination! 1

Voters don't think like this. The only "side" they "took" was Carol Kane's. its also extremely anti-women to suggest that they only awarded a veteran with a nearly 60 year career because they didn't want to engage in Stan wars or whatever it is you're trying to suggest. Can't be on merit, nope. Edited December 3, 2024 by family.guy123 1
kandicha Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Yesss, Marianne needed that critics push so she can get a nomination And Carol Kane is an inspired choice at least, gotta check out her movie now. 1
Almodusa Posted December 3, 2024 Author Posted December 3, 2024 Best Actor: Adrian Brody, The Brutalist 3
hausofdave Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 there was like a ten minute gap before Brody won. He was probably a unanimous pick
