Seeing ugly cgi movies like wicked and gladiator2 getting technical noms and not furioa... disgusting, but that's hollywood, nothing's organic anymore.

Bizarre to call Wicked a CGI movie, when almost everything in the film is practical.

That Supporting Actress lineup from CC is interesting. It feels right, but one of them will have to miss out, and then there is still a spoiler in Felicity Jones as well.

I think from those 6 it's either Ariana or Margaret who won't make Oscar 5, and IF Felicity is dragged in with the rest of The Brutalist, it'll unfortunately be Danielle Deadwyler missing out by a hair again :gaycat7:

People are mad that, what, they didn't use actual flying monkeys? :deadbanana2:

I truly don't understand the CGI drags. Yes they built all the sets and used CGI for the fantasy elements. None of this should be surprising.

So you're arguing that most movies released nowadays are CGI movies? Because if the requirement is to have some form of CGI at any point, I hate to break to you...

Not most, but those that mostly do rely on visual effects and CGI do not deserve any nominations in technical categories. But Wicked's success at awards circut was decided months in advance so... Like I said, nothing's organic in hollywood these days.

But again, Wicked is majority practical effects. There is minimal CGI in the movie, so for you to label it a "CGI movie" is factually incorrect. Which is why we're confused why you're trying to spin this narrative...

What are you talking about? There are tonnes of behind the scenes reels showing all the incredible sets they built. There's one blue screen scene, which is "Defying Gravity" where she's literally flying above the Emerald City ffs. Again, why are you trying to spin this false narrative?

Oh sis don't act naive, we all know studios started hiding screens in bts videos. Remember Barbie bts videos last yar?

Movie looks ugly and cheap and deserves NOTHING in technical.

Have you seen Furiosa? Have you seen THAT not even gonna say scene because it was long act on the highway?

Now compare that to Wicked. Like I said, industry decided it was gonna happen, but please don't insult me by saying it deserves its noms.

See, this is the problem. I'm not going to believe (or parrot) narratives based on assumptions, particularly when we have facts that contradict them. Wicked had ginormous sets built; we've seen them both in officially released BTS and drone shots. You're welcome to have ignorant opinions that the movie looks "ugly and cheap", but nobody is required to agree with you. In fact, people are actively disagreeing.

Disagree with Wicked's noms all you want, but don't fabricate lies and state them as facts.

lol narrative based on assumptions is a proven fact, google it. Studios hide screens in bts videos so movies don't get called out for using cgi since that brings bad rep. Talk about being ignorant...

So, again; you have zero evidence to support your argument and are actively choosing to ignore all the evidence that contradicts it. You are stating a lie and trying to convince people it's true. Ignorance at its finest.

Finding reddit stuff about something doesnt make it true though.

Maybe studios do hide cgi in bts. But nobody here claimed Wicked had no CGI involved?! It can still have great sets and practical effects!

Then there people go all conspiracy theory and claim Award bodies or Hollywood or whoever „decided months ago" that a „cgi movie" would get all the technical achievement awards…

And where is your evidence that Wicked has done that? Idgaf what the Barbie set was doing. You're making claims about this film, with absolutely no evidence to support it. In that case, we can be stating Furiosa was a CGI film with majority blue screen. Because, you know "it's been a thing in Hollywood for almost a decade now".

Do you have eyes? Brain? There's your evidence. In case you don't get it because you are blinded by your stan card I am sorry for you, you don't know first thing about good looking movies that actually deserve praise and awards for doing amazing work. Instead of just relying on CGI and making ugly and cheap looking movie.

If you had seen Furiosa you wouldn't be here embarrassing yourself while defending movie like Wicked.
