If MJB didn't need the help I just know these would all be Demi's, she's been nominated almost everywhere.

since 2010, only two winners of Chicago critics got snubbed at Oscar.

Both were lead actresses in horror movies (Colette and Nyong'o)

Nicole Kidman missed in CC

Selena also, but that's kinda expected since Zoe will definitely get the spot.

Demi getting a lot of momentum, let's pray she makes it to the Oscars. She gave the performance of the year imo.

This is really good for Jolie's GG chances, she's the only overlap with Drama and CC. Exciting :duca:

So happy Baptiste got in, hope she wins CC and BAFTA, and who knows the Oscar

looks like they maxed out at 2 actors per film

so no Selena or Felicity

i think SAINT will snatch every precursor. i personally think she has the weakest "narrative" to win (being overdue for another Oscar, same boat as Godcole Kidman and *sigh* Kate WinsToLesliet) and therefore i don't think she'll win. but i'd be happy just for a nomination. it'll shut up OAJH who kept saying she hasn't been nominated for an Oscar since the Bush administration that's for damn sure

Call me crazy, but to see J2 left out in technical categories like production design is insane to me. Love it or hate it, that film was beautifully made.

Finally saw Conclave. Big meh. Felt like House of Cards with Pope (so totally implausible plot and twists, you can tell it was adapted from a book). Good performances and visually pleasing. I can see the appeal of it being in a top 3 for a lot of voters and snatching a win à la Green Book. Isabella's presence is much more than I expected and my whole theatre (pretty packed so a testitomny to the great legs and surprise hit this film has been) gasped at her big scene so I get the supporting actress nod.

Really a weak year so far. Trying not to set expectations too high with Brutalist but it feels like my last hope.

So happy for Baptiste. :clap3:

thinking that Wicked is too strong for Erivo to miss, she's kinda locked. if anyone's missing for Baptiste is probably Jolie. so it will be Madison, Gascón, Moore, Erivo and Baptiste.

CC's record is so abysmal even with the extra slots it almost makes me more confident in predicting Pasoulof or Kapadia.

2010 - 4/6 (missed Russell)
2011 - 3/6 (Allen, Malick)
2012 - 3/6 (Haneke, Zeitlin)
2013 - 4/6 (Payne)
2014 - 3/6 (Miller, Tyldum)
2015 - 3/6 (Abrahamson, McKay)
2016 - 5/7
2017 - 4/7 (Anderson)
2018 - 4/7 (Pawlikowski)
2019 - 4/7 (Phillips)
2020 - 4/7 (Vinterberg)
2021 - 4/6 (Hamaguchi)
2022 - 4/10 (Ostlund )

Seeing ugly cgi movies like wicked and gladiator2 getting technical noms and not furioa... disgusting, but that's hollywood, nothing's organic anymore.
