AFI has mostly a consensus lineup, so I wonder what Pundit Choice Awards will do for their BP lineup. they nominated Saltburn and The Color Purple. maybe replacing Nickel Boys or A Complete Unknown with The Substance?

I think they'll try to save Blitz or payola September 5 :toofunny3:

I'm catching up with movies released this year

The Substance

The movie is amazing visually, Demi and Margaret really gave a great performance considering the minimum dialog. I feel both of them will get nominated as a package at the Oscars, similar to The Lost Daughter duo

Emilia Pérez

Idk whether to like or dislike the movie, great direction, performance and stunning cinematography but the story itself is ridiculous. I get what the director was trying to portrait like her unhappiness and self-hatred pre-trans made her destructive and post-trans she turned into Mother Theresa, but then the third act came and completely ruined it. and I'm not even gonna address the Mexican gang violence. The more I think about the movie the more I hate it.

Megalopolis

I don't know what tf was that but please give Shia the abuser a Razzie.

Tbh I just can't see Denis or Jon getting in with the branch. They already rejected Dune 1 and Wicked is even more basic and middlebrow. If Greta couldn't get in last year with a surreal, absurdist postmodern satire because it was too much of a fun blockbuster, they won't stand a chance imo. Jon is giving classic DGA snub.

Imo, they'll probably whip out another international/artsy pick irregardless of how they perform at the precursors. I think it'll be one of Almodovar, Berger, and Fargeat.

All I can say is goodnight to The Room Next Door. I still have it in for Original Score, but it's absolutely vulnerable.

If The Substance doesn't do well at the Globes on Monday morning, goodbye.

Jolie not even being consistently nominated is quite a downgrade when Portman and Stewart were critics leaders of their respective years.
