hausofdave Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago No Anora in screenplay, no Nickel Boys in director, and The Brutalist only in director is quite the turnaround from NYFCC yesterday

I don't see her happening but it's more likely imo than people pretending Winslet has a chance. I feel like Winslet's definitely gonna pop up at the Golden Globes and could be a spoiler; feels like she's everywhere and I did just read someone was holding a private screening at their home for Lee (blanking on the name of course). Tilda would be a cool nom but I feel like the movie would need to be catching on more to make that happen; feels like there's no campaign at all 1

Kylizzle Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Oh wow Elle Fanning, Nicole, Wicked The Brutalist and Nickel Boys flopping after winning big at NYFCC ffff Anora remaining consistent
hausofdave Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Every year NBR aligns with the eventual BP lineup like 5-6/10, and this year's lineup makes things easy: Anora Babygirl A Complete Unknown Conclave Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Gladiator II Juror #2 Queer A Real Pain Sing Sing Wicked My guess is the films in bold make it into BP, the others miss.

EnigmaticAndroid Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Kidman Move over Jolie, the real Drama Globe winner is coming though 1
Konril Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago NBR went wild. I don't even know what's the frontrunner. 1
ctlp27 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Wicked best picture is like Green Book winning. Makes no sense even though Wicked is much better. Best director for Chu? With that photography?

It cements them as legitimate awards players even if they don't end up super win-competitive in the end. 1

Yeah I really don't see it winning BP but the whole conversation about Oscars and Wicked has become a bit annoying since its release (like no Ariana doesn't deserve a nomination, she's great in it but let's not get ridiculous). It reminds me of Barbie last year (which was better on many technical aspects). 1

And similar to what happened with Barbie, I wonder if the sheer hype it's experiencing right now could be inflating people's expectations for it across the season (and I say that as someone who thought Barbie could win BP pre-season). We have months to go, multiple major awards bodies to hand out awards, and multiple films are still building steam. We'll see.
Aiya Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Visually wicked is better than Barbie. (plot wise too) I hope C and A gets nominated but I Fear Ari will get a Margot treatment. We will see. 1
futurenostalgic Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Ok i was not a fan of wicked AT ALL. But I don't think that comparison works as much. With Barbie, Margot, as a lead actress, needed #1 votes against top dramatic competition. That role and performance was just not enough to get voters passionate and vote her as THEIR fave lead performance of the year. I always thought this before even while she snatched all those noms prior to Oscar. It didn't help that Ryan Gosling was stealing all the attention in performance criticism in that movie. Ariana is getting far more praise and raves in reviews than Margot had, so she has way more going for her. She also has a "more challenging" aspect to her role vs. Barbie. It's more feasible to imagine voters putting her in as their #1. And the best part for her is that she is in supporting. She's in a really great spot right now. Ariana's problem with voters lies with, not bc she will get Margot'd, but: 1.) Will voters get over popstar bias? and 2.) Will voters like Wicked enough? 1

Donquizote Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Told you all Elle Fanning will be strong for nomination this year
Dark Miracles Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Hmm I feel like Demi really needed NBR, but at least she got the Indie Spirit nom Craig winning Actor at NBR is pretty big for him, Queer's rollout feels incredibly lowkey so far Edited 5 hours ago by Dark Miracles
