Blade Runner Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Terrible, dire year. Haven't seen them, but rooting for Wicked, Anora, The Brutalist and Babygirl. And DUNE of course.

fridayteenage Posted November 23 Posted November 23 out of curiosity, # of times selected actors had a role nominated for individual sag + ensemble sag + Oscar: Emma Stone 1 Cate Blanchett 1 Penelope Cruz 1 Saoirse Ronan 1 Nicole Kidman 1 Helen Mirren 1 Margot Robbie 1 Renee Zellweger 1 Natalie Portman 1 Jennifer Lawrence 2 Octavia Spencer 2 Frances McDormand 2 Meryl Streep 2 Judi Dench 2 Amy Adams 2 Kate Winslet 2 Julianne Moore 2 Annette Bening 2 Catherine Keener 2 Michelle Williams 2 Viola Davis 4 Viola very good at getting roles that are actors catnip. Helps that 3 of the 4 are based on plays.
Donquizote Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Just got out from Wicked screening. Erivo shattered everything and honestly the showiest and the best performance this year so far. Will she follow the path of Johnny Depp and gets nominated at Oscar?

The only other black woman nominated for a fantasy movie in Lead Actress was Quvenzhané. 2

I believe the only nom for an actress for a movie set in a fantasyland is Meryl Streep for into the woods. as opposed to the Louisiana bayou or a Baltimore lab (like shape of water), etc. Edited November 24 by fridayteenage

Green Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Ariana is #2 in the predictions for Supporting Actress https://www.goldderby.com/odds/graph/oscars-nominations-2025-predictions/best-supporting-actress/ Cynthia is #7 for Lead Actress (I think she's eventually getting in the top 5, the movie is a smash) https://www.goldderby.com/odds/graph/oscars-nominations-2025-predictions/best-actress/ And Jonathan Bailey #11 for Supporting Actor https://www.goldderby.com/odds/graph/oscars-nominations-2025-predictions/best-supporting-actor/ 2 1
Kylizzle Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Methinks Cynthia can only break into the top 5 if she beats Mikey Madison for the comedy Globe. Cynthia + Mikey + Karla all making it in would mean 3 Comedy/Musical GG nominees in Best Actress. I don't think that's happened since 2005 (Witherspoon/Dench/Knightley).

fridayteenage Posted November 27 Posted November 27 they love musicals there. even sia's music got 2 globe noms along with its 3 Razzie wins. I wonder if they'll choose some extra actually supporting performances from wicked.

fridayteenage Posted November 28 Posted November 28 (edited) Piano Lesson per screentimecentral - John David Washington - 50:57 (40.08%) - Danielle Deadwyler - 46:44 (36.76%) Supporting actress just has fraud after fraud this year, huh?
